Controversial discussion. Thinking it’s time to switch from to something more generic.

Maybe or as reach begins expanding beyond the known fediverse.

Maddie needs to be known across all platforms!

mikedev,

Nah, but we can do something like https://fediversity.site/search?tag=dogs* and catch all of the matching tags.

Completely different way of looking at the fediverse. We were using #dogs and #cats long before Mastodon existed.

Since I have restricted (connections only) search permissions enabled and Mastodon doesn't support OpenWebAuth you'll need to do a signed ActivityPub fetch to find any results at that endpoint; but I assure you it works.

@mikedev I have a streams account so I will check it out!

I've been playing it loosey goosey with backups on my lately. Durnik, my original Portainer workhorse, gets all the love and has very specific backup routines per application hosted.

My new ProxMox powerhouse, Belgarath, is going the lazy admin route - I just backup the the entire server as an image daily. Thinking it's time to revisit and setup similar per VM / app backups.

The three things that have helped me find a safe, happy social home on a larger instance are carefully curating who I follow, the hashtags I follow and keyword muting. This is my own self generated algorithm.

Still getting my bearings about how to make a smaller instance just as vibrant. Relays? Being more lax about who I follow? Maybe some of the newer fedi platforms like @newsmast and @Flipboard can help. I know @mammoth has hand curated topic feeds as well.

One thing I would definitely do if I started my own instance is to have 2 accounts on it.

With one I'd curate selectively, as you've been doing. With the other, I'd follow as widely as possible, while still filtering out noise. The first account is where you live. The second populates your federated timeline, hashtag searches etc.

@eleventy needs your support. This is a project I've had a lot of fun with on a personal level, and also started using it for a small documentation project at work now, very successfully.

I appreciate these Lil' Linux Lessons, because all my linux experience has been self taught. I've often found things that most people just assume you know...I don't. Follow @vkc for more.

🪑⑁💺 Looking for home office chair recommendations. 🪑⑁💺

I work from home full time. I spend 8 hour plus extra at night sometimes for study sessions / programming hobbies. Fairly regular sized person, looking for back support - I currently sit at the edge of my seat for some reason. Probably not good.

Willing to spend some money on this, although I will mumble and grumble about it.

Thanks!

@aj Thanks! I started searching around and found one with a foot warmer and massager, even. So many options.

@jnv I found an Aeron for dirt cheap - company going out of business. Had to go pick it up immediately. They had 35 chairs and sold out right after I got there. Thanks for the recommendation!

I’m rewatching Ugly Betty as a comfort show when I have downtime. So far it has held up, but reserving final recommendations until I get a bit deeper in.

I forgot there is a transgender storyline. It’s treated a bit comically with some truths sprinkled here and there. To be fair, that describes the show as a whole.

But oof some slang that should not have made it in.

Also, of course the actress wasn’t trans.

Tonight I learned about SCIM, a identity management standard, which has been picked up and supported by Microsoft.

It's mostly for user auto provisioning and de-provisioning.

Installed the docker of IceShrimp.NET, which isn't even in beta yet. I have a few installs under my belt now (Mastodon, Bonfire, GoToSocial, etc.) so I know the basic drill, but this was still a pretty easy install.

In the branch I used, there's no front end yet. Phanpy, Elk and Enafore handled at least the basic posting requests so the API is solid.

So cool to see dotnet code in the fediverse! Follow me @box464 :)

@box464 @box464 Love to see .NET, but curious about the app itself. Is it functionally unique from the others or more about learning/technologies?

box464,
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

@cbielstein It's following along the lines of IceShrimp and Firefish with emoji reacts and MFM. The idea is that admins with these platforms would be able to easily migrate.

A few things are being abandoned (Clips), and others are being added. (Not exactly sure what Magazines are)
