Medics undergo years of cramming and cheating their way to A's in classes that mystify, stupefy, and terrify them. Using math is not a thing for them. Using models of the universe is not a thing for them.

Where do you live? Most American doctors I have dealt with feel so threatened by anyone with any medical or scientific knowledge that it is best to keep it to oneself.
@msquebanh I am glad that you were able to help your mother. Here, the indifference, arrogance and hubris is colossal. A person I am close to was near death until they found a doctor from the same demographic and nearly identical age and life situation to actually care, run the proper test, and order lifesaving surgery. This person was circling the drain and would probably be dead now but they had the $ to pay for a doctor who actually cared about them. It took 6 months to find one.
@msquebanh The US has a massive nurse shortage and it is a profession that requires caring and conscientiousness, not much academic skill or science intellect. The nursing schools are in an arms race to show they are the "best" by having the lowest acceptance rate and they do not train enough nurses.
@msquebanh All caring professions are in crisis. All exploitative professions are in great shape. All professions described in David Graeber's book "BS Jobs" are going strong.
I serve on my HOA and our President just called me and essentially cussed me out because I'm having a Q&A for people who want to run to be on the board because, in her words, "You could have just told people to come to me" and "You didnt ask for anyone else's input" despite the fact that I did and she just never responded to my email about the idea.
@BlackAzizAnansi I know a guy who got fined $400 for leaving his trash cans out too long. (He's a professor who was at an international conference.) He appealed the fine to the board at an in person meeting. He put costume eyes, nose, and mouth on the can and brought it to he meeting with him. He said he had nothing to say but the can did. He proceeded to do a ventriloquist routine where the can thanked the board for punishing the man who left him on the street for so long.
