catloaf,

Looks fine from here, must be your instance.

The spoiler is also broken for me, but that’s my client.

catloaf,

Anywhere with a biosecurity law has signs posted in the most popular languages. And they’ll usually tell you not to bring food or animal products into the country in any form. And there are convenient trash cans in case you did bring something you need to get rid of before you hit customs.

catloaf,

That’s how it should be, yeah. But some people say “well you have to prove that it was service-connected!” and if the service is classified, you can’t.

Really, we should just have universal healthcare so that this isn’t even a question in the first place.

catloaf,

Build a minimum viable product and publish it.

catloaf,

www.britannica.com/place/Yunnan/History

Says it was controlled by various Chinese dynasties starting in 221 BC. I don’t see any references to Turkic peoples being in Yunnan, on that page or others.

catloaf,

In the EU, you can.

catloaf,

Not the whole account, only individual games.

Last I heard, Steam hadn’t actually implemented that functionality yet, though.

catloaf,

Yes, but when they’re on USB the keys are much more accessible. You can just plug it in and dump them.

If you’re only using a password, the keys are stored in an unencrypted part of the drive, which can again easily be dumped.

Once you’ve dumped the keys, you can brute-force the passphrase offline.

catloaf,

That’s what the company is blaming it on. I don’t believe that for a second.

catloaf,

Sure, regular file permissions can do that. You may need to make the folder owner someone else, and set the sticky bit.

catloaf,

Who cares? Article 2 says the president can do whatever he wants, right?

catloaf,

Did they do it for the light version too?

catloaf,

I’m surprised that mammals evolved to not regrow teeth. You’d think it would be a significant advantage.

catloaf,

Works fine for me in 1.0.12.

But that’s a gif, not a video. You sure your player can handle gifs?

Using btrfs compression as a backing device for Zram

So, I’m sure some of you know. If configured, you can use a backing device for Zram for scenarios where Zram can’t compress the data, e.g. when it’s full. For this you can use pretty much any supported partition format, including btrfs, what I realized is that you can used btrfs disk compression on top of that. Question...

catloaf,

If it’s not compressible, it’s not compressible. Algorithm isn’t going to make much difference. Already compressed media, for example, can’t really be compressed. In fact, if you try, you might just find it actually ends up bigger than the original.

catloaf,

When you beat someone 1v1, you get to keep their PC.

catloaf,

It’s normal for a switch to strip a vlan tag when it sends a packet out, so that the endpoint doesn’t have to support vlans. Don’t worry about that. As far as the endpoint is concerned, it’s just normal subnetting.

When it’s on the other vlan, can you even ping it? When you check the packet capture, can you see the ping and response? Where does it get dropped?

catloaf,

Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem. If a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24/7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the US release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate’s service is more valuable.

escapistmagazine.com/valves-gabe-newell-says-pira…

It was true then and it’s still true today. Services like Steam, Spotify, and Netflix are far more valuable to the consumer than physical distribution.

If you want to support your favorite artists, come out and see them on tour (at non-ticketmaster venues, preferably) and/or buy merch.

ICJ Ruling Won't Immediately Change War in Gaza, but Danger Still Looms for Israel (archive.is)

“Halevi and the military high command woke up too late. The General Staff lost control over the units, especially reserve units, months ago. In Gaza, in the West Bank and in bases in Israel, soldiers record themselves destroying Palestinian property and civilian infrastructure, blowing up homes without permission and spreading...

catloaf,

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

And then nuke ourselves, just for good measure.

catloaf,

I’m not seeing a problem here. Shunning people who support genocide is fine with me.

There’s no gray area, either. Either you’re against genocide or you’re in favor. There’s no “Israel can do a little genocide, as a treat”. That’s still genocide. If you decline to condemn genocide, that’s still on the side of genocide.

If genocide collaborators want to collaborate, let them suffer the consequences.
