The social media landscape is changing. Emerging internet phenomena like deep fake technology and AI systems capable of impersonating human language are proliferating. This trend makes it increasingly difficult for people to find reliable information on the digital identity of elected officials, agency executives, and others which risks breaking trust with the public and opens the door to malicious misinformation.
We believe there is an opportunity to help verify the online identities of American officials. Hosting a Mastodon server on .gov domains is one possibility. 10x will explore this changing internet landscape, validate the extent of the problem, and identify if government technologists can play a positive role in solving it.
With the Ally reviews out, of course Steam Deck fanboys are upset and bashing the ROG Ally. They believe that the Steam Deck should have a monopoly on the handheld PC market. :kanafacepalm:
This is one of the reasons why I sold the Steam Deck, because of those fanboys, besides it being too big and bulky, thus hurting my hands (I have pretty small hands). That is why I got the GPD Win 4 and Ayaneo Air Pro. Now, I kind of want to pick an Ally up eventually when they are on store shelves. It helps that it’s available world wide, unlike the Steam Deck and price competitive (only $50 more for the mid and high end models of the Steam Deck). Competition is good, monopolies are not.
Remember, corporations aren’t your friends, it’s silly to worship them, no matter if you are a fan of their works or their products.
Good news, a.gup.pe is not shutting down thanks to the support. Hopefully they can fix #calckey support and more so everyone can join on the group action and the value the service provides.
You can support them though their Open Collective.
If you saw my boost on Seirdy’s accessibility analysis on Calckey, there were a bunch of issues that they found.
Thankfully, it seems that the Calckey team is working hard to improve the issues and they recently added keyboard accessibility and made a bunch of improvements
Also, Calckey added local boosting (yes, Calckey has different scopes to boost opposed to Mastodon boosting to the public). They plan to add boost with the ability to add a content warning in addition, soon.
Hopefully the editing feature will come soon. But still, competition is a good thing.
I played some Pokémon de PanePon on my commute with the Analogue Pocket, and I like it better than playing Gameboy games on the Nintendo Switch through Switch Online Expansion Pack. It’s just feels awkward playing Gameboy games on such a huge letterboxed screen.
Also, the 10x upscaling on the Pocket blows anything the Switch can do through emulation. Even on Gameboy Virtual Console on the 3DS (which I played Pocket Monsters Silver), which kind of looks blurry.
The sad thing is, getting a Pocket without overpaying is a difficult proposition or waiting 2+ years, since Analogue insists on “Kickstarter-like” behavior.
Such a shame really, it probably the perfect Gameboy Color recreation, besides modding a Gameboy, slapping a new shell and IPS screen on it, using a flash cart and calling it a day.
Do you find the default Calckey UI too cluttered. The classic mode resembles Twitter more and you can change to it with these simple teps.
Click the three dots (more) in the side bar and click Layouts
Click Classic
Now the interface should resemble Twitter. Also, you can use Deck layout to make it look like Mastodon’s Advanced Mode or like Tweetdeck where you can have multiple columns, allowing you to view multiple timelines, notifications, and put up widgets.
@chikorita157 I haven't, but I was looking at what they look like, and I think you attach the shelf platforms to the back of the Detolf, then attach the sides to the back and platforms. Then again, I could be wrong, and Ikea products usually come with instructions.
It seems that a.gup.pe might be shutting down, I saw the message. This might explain why the developer hasn’t fixed the federation issues with Misskey and forks.
I set the default theme to a Sakura-theme at Sakurajima Social since they had at the Misskey theme repository. We need to put a Sakura theme because it’s in the name, of course.
FYI: You can change the themes in the preferences to one that is not pink.
Looks like the recent Calckey commits in dev have broken federation at Sakurajima.social, 1 days ago, but now it’s working, for the time being, no further updates will be made., maybe until they release the next release candidate or they confirmed to fix this issue with the recent commits.
Are we testing in Production? Yes, because it’s not officially launched yet, it’s in a soft opening. When we finally open, only stable beta builds will be used.
With Twitter’s new verification rules, tracking accurate election information is about to get more difficult, if not impossible. I can see this being a very bad thing.
This really dilutes the value of Twitter being a source for accurate news and information.
Still trying to figure out the best way to import custom emojis on Calckey. Apparently, they need to be stored the user's "drive." I basically ratelimited myself and can't upload anymore. Opps?
@chikorita157 I'm assuming that Calckey uses TypeORM to communicate with Postgres because I know that NestJS is used as the back-end, and TypeORM is commonly used with NestJS, so I'm wondering if a custom migration could help you out.
