I scroll all:scaled fairly often, as my list of subs isn’t super active, but there are some communities that come up fairly often that I would rather not see. Is there a way to implement that on the client side or would that require a Lemmy change?
90+% of this article is good, valuable, and interesting. I too ride on 3-4 lane roads and have dealt with aggressive drivers, it’s nice to be seen.
However this bit chafes:
The dismissive ‘male glance’ is real, on the bike as in all of life. I can distinctly recall men realizing another cyclist (me, almost 50) is behind them, at a red light or whatever, and looking back, only to discover a woman who is older than he is, on a not-interesting-to-him bike, with no interesting blingy gear on it, and have him turn away, barely able to acknowledge I was there at all. What was he expecting to see? A sexualizable object young enough to be worthy of his attention?
There is no winning, being catcalled or ignored is equally appalling to you, how is anyone supposed to go about their life in proximity to you? He could certainly say hi, but is not obligated or even expected to. His response likely has less to do with the fact that you’re a woman than it does with they fact they probably have something else on their mind.
Two recent U.S. Supreme Court actions have opened the door to a new legal frontier in which local and state officials can be disqualified from office for life for engaging in “insurrection” or providing “aid and comfort” to enemies of the Constitution, based on a post-Civil War era addition to the nation’s foundational...
This from a court controlled by the party that decries the federal government having too much power. Watch as the spiders eat their own and go on not caring.
It is also the directors job to get good performances out of the actors. When directing a bunch of kids, they should have near line by line direction for tone and inflection, you can tell that didn’t happen, Sokka might be the most egregious example of that.

If they don’t bother releasing people locked up under laws that no longer exist, why would they bother retrying all those people? To be clear they should do both, but they don’t do much of either.
This article neglects the state of charging and grid infrastructure. We can’t immediately convert all cars to EV, we don’t have the grid capacity or enough charging stations, yet. Each level 3 (fast charging station) is a custom layout and they take time to design and implement.

I love seeing the positive impacts of our community. Please keep highlighting new communities. I was unaware of all of them and have subbed because of this post.
I’m no Muskcuck, but I am in favor of capping the generational transfer of wealth. Let these big inequalities die with this generation and set up a (more) even playing field for the next. If the rich want enhanced educational outcomes for their kids they have to fund public institutions.
Put in a sand pit somewhere you are ok with them shitting. Training domesticated cats is an undertaking that in my limited experience comes down to giving them an option they’d prefer over their current behavior. Trying to dissuade a feral cat from shitting where they please humanely seems like a loosing battle.
If there is a moderate to high likelihood that the average citizen can’t afford rent and have a voice in government (ie. protesting 2 days a week, because their vote doesn’t effect policy) they live in neither a free society, nor a democracy.
One of the reasons children have been able to lead the protests is because they have a safety net.
