say no more, you had me at "chuck your phone into the ocean". No other strategies needed.

For anyone wondering what it was like being a teenager in the 90s, I give you, X-Files S2E14, "Die Hand Die Verletzt". The first 10 minutes are just so accurate to what the mindset/living experience/reality was in those times, it's as accurately creepy as watching Office Space 2k office worker, or watching Silicon Valley in the mid 2010s as a FAANG bee. Seriously, if you watch it, imagine yourself in a world where those things could be real, and you can be closer to what the 90s were like.

codinghorror,

@shana hard to think of Mulder without all the sex addiction baggage at this point, honestly

codinghorror,

@shana nostalgia is a hell of a drug

codinghorror,

@shana hey no judgment here. Even as a dude, I can see Mulder was an attractive, smart man. I mean, I could see myself being gay for Mulder??

codinghorror,

@shana awww happy birthday! 🎂 congrats on turning 20! ;)

codinghorror,

@shana ebay exists for a reason ;)

codinghorror,

@shana whatever age you are, I'll always be a fan

codinghorror,

@xorn I have no idea what you are referring to 🤐

codinghorror,

ok, so there are plenty of people talking about this on here, but I want to emphasize how truly amazeballs Shift Happens really is. It is absolutely magnificent, an unapologetic, incredibly meticulously researched and executed love song to keyboards. It didn't just exceed my already high expectations: it absolutely blew them away. It's insanely great. Go buy it. https://shifthappens.site/

codinghorror,

@jgaut I'm confident they'll do another printing. It is SO fucking good.

codinghorror,

also even the minor asides are just so. fucking. good.

codinghorror,

@theotherlinh niiice! where did they announce?!

First, let me say that I have massive respect for Lori Gottlieb, but I'm having trouble with the cognitive dissonance of her 2012 book "Marry him: the case for settling for Mr. Good Enough", and then.. this: https://www.onceuponabebe.com/2022/01/single-mama-spotlight-lori-gottlieb.html where she clearly states "single by choice" circa 2022. I'm like.. if someone this sophisticated, a literal therapist with incredible emotional intelligence who has written great books on this very topic (and btw quite attractive), can't find a life partner, the rest of us are sooo fucked?!

codinghorror,

@dave_cochran welcome to the human condition, my friend. It is painful to hold these diametrically opposed truths, but that's the job.

codinghorror,

@dave_cochran and fuck it: it's worth it. It's all worth it. The pain, the suffering, the occasional joy. It's all worth it.

codinghorror,
codinghorror,

@dave_cochran sometimes you have to give up being rational and let things just be

codinghorror,

@dave_cochran @herrbischoff hard things are hard. Be patient. You'll get there.

Children are an enormous pain in the ass, like all the rest of the humans, but my god they can really surprise you in delightful ways, every day:

codinghorror,

@jeff oh my god this was so bad. SO BAD.

codinghorror,

@jeff you truly do not want to know. I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Ok maybe Elon, but nobody else.

The invention of the blue LED, one of the most difficult and important inventions ever – which allowed the white LED – is some of the craziest Chad shit I have ever heard about anything. This guy is pinnacle determination holy crap.

codinghorror,

@SwiftOnSecurity fucking blue LEDs though. It's like goddamn punji sticks right in my damn eye.

Last chance to get a copy of Shift Happens: we’re selling the few remaining copies and 80% of those are now sold. https://shifthappens.site/store/

codinghorror,

@glennf @lawrencelry Glenn this thing is a goddamn masterwork. It is so incredibly good. You should be proud.
