I have difficulty with the "I only use lower case" folks. I mean, e e cummings could pull that off, so.. what you're implicitly telling us you are as talented as e e cummings? OK .. I .. guess?

codinghorror,

But ya know, I'm a programmer. I love rules. I love living by rules. I think rules are negotiable, but they generally make the world better and more survivable long term. If anything I want more rules. People who say "the rules don't apply to me" make me deeply uncomfortable.

codinghorror,

@jonah I appreciate you sir

there are so many things wrong with my Mac in one single image

codinghorror,

@mathowie the hard truth is "Macs are so much easier/better than Windows" is one of the biggest lies ever sold. iOS, sure, but OS X? So so much baggage.

Remember that any one of these billionaires could solve San Francisco’s homelessness crisis overnight, yet instead they spend their money vilifying the poor and attacking those of us who are trying to house people

codinghorror,

@deanpreston well, Batman.. exists.

codinghorror,

@foxxtrot @deanpreston well, that's exactly the point :)

Can tech billionaires turn San Francisco into a right-wing dystopia? I've been watching this situation develop over the past couple of years, and then a tech CEO's drunken Twitter death threat rampage tied it all together.

@lizardbill turns out, people like money. and sex.

codinghorror,

@joranelias @lizardbill I am simultaneously repulsed and yet, attracted

codinghorror,

@JasonPunyon @joranelias @lizardbill Jason I have to admit this may actually be the first truly funny thing you have ever said.

Poor Things is like a much, much more accessible The Lobster. It is almost as good as Everything Everywhere All At Once which is an unbelievable compliment. See it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlbR5N6veqw

codinghorror,

@ristkof @u47 well, ok, but the academy awards disagree with you 11 times, so objectively.. uh.. that's let's say a "rare" opinion. ;) I could also cite metacritic, but we're good :)

codinghorror,

@u47 @ristkof it is allowed! It's frowned upon, but it is allowed 😘

I don't know if you've read this yet (not the book, the review) but it is an absolute masterpiece of how to deliver a completely devastating, but cordial and factual, takedown. Honestly, the last takedown I saw this powerful was Susan Fowler's blog post on Uber.
