    I got a flat tire today in the hookworm, with a mr tuffy's strip which it exactly missed the edge of. The shard of glass was about 1/2in long spear. Before I started, the sweeper had a flat from steel wire. On the way there, the guy on a bike in front of me stopped and had a flat. Yesterday I helped a guy with a flat. PBOT needs to not do this to us with the contaminated gravel whenever it snows.

    @enobacon ooh i got a tiny little lawnmower engine, 8-15 is perfect speed for my 1st gear. I work food delivery so im always on and off it anyways too. No worries if youre not interested but im always happy to help

    I think about how the main reason the covid isolation period was reduced from 10 days to 5 was bc some airline CEO had a hissy fit way too often. I'm never not going to be mad about it

    @rose growing up in the 2010s, not really having oldheads around with only one friend who was semi-frequently, my friend group was influenced mostly by proudhon. We werent really theory readers, but a few of us passed around a text of his that established a foundational city rat kinda anarchism which we reflected on, critiqued and grew from over time.

    Its been years since ive read that, idek the title anymore but perhaps yk what i mean. Not really a psuedo-state in the modern definition of state, but like a psuedo-govt

    five portlanders could team up, chip in ~$1k each, go up to vancouver, wa and get a kei truck with only 15k miles on it to share amongst themselves -- would be pretty cool to see more of these instead of all those shiny luxury tank-trucks on the road.

    @rose @evdas it is possible to keep these under the radar though. Most dont know theyre illegal since its such a niche topic, basically just hope the dmv workers dont catch on.

    I was reading a forum on how other oregonians got these past and they said have everything in order, pray they dont look at the vehicle, know what it is, or care

    @rose ok so theres 4.3 million miles of public roads in the US. Datas not being kept terribly well of whats paved vs unpaved recently, but older stats are about 50/50, slightly favoring paved. So lets just call it at 2.3 million paved miles

    Lets take the portland block, 200x200 ft and say all the buildings will fit into it, and be 200 ft tall. Thatd be 4.4 buildings for every mile of concrete laid. Lets not worry about thickness or anything else for this for the sake of simplicity.

    4.4 x 2.3 million comes out to 10 million 120 thousand buildings. This is probably on the lower end of estimates. You could multiply this 10.12 million by probably 30-90 depending on how big of rooms, how many, etc. Or just imagine 10 million individual people getting large houses

    @enobacon tbf i dont think this one is on the users. Theres been plenty of time for companies to adapt to the ways we use phone cameras and they just havent. It should be easy to post videos shot vertically, without having weird sidebars or anything like that. Or, on the flipside, cameras should be able to internally rotate to fit our natural habits

    I've been avoiding the bird site but a friend passed me a screenshot of people pulling the "ecofascism isn't a thing" discourse again.

    It's impossible to judge how much of this eternal recurrence is the result of ideological defensiveness by newbies to green politics and how much is the willful and incessant lying of older greens who know damn well better, but it's deeply depressing nonetheless.

    We are never going to integrate basic antifascist insights or antibodies into anarchism.

    What do we do with the who aren't technically ready to be left unattended? They want to play with friends for an hour or so after school and I don't really need to be here for that but they don't want to walk home on their own.
