It’s just been pointed out to me that the reason Apple runs a trade-in programme for older devices is so they can reduce the size of the used market, and has fuck all to do with recycling.

That’s blown my tiny mind.

@DJDarren how do the trade-in prices compare to what a random consumer would pay? it seems like they would have to offer a high trade-in to be able to put a major dent in the secondary market. which then means they are making a lot less on each sale if you factor that cost in.

@liaizon i wonder how bad security is getting actually? like these companies go and add 2 factor for some reason. but that reason could be: 'other companies in the industry are doing it, and our regular security sucks so we should do this to fix our security'? or is actually motivated by some real metric that an exec can understand and make a decision about?

just managed to install android dev tools, clone a repo and put a button in adding new functionality in just two hours with @liaizon . never written a line of kotlin code or done native app development for android before..! amazing success

fuck spotify in general and fuck spotify for getting involved in podcasting. they have text selection disabled in the episode descriptions on web so if someone in the podcast says something something "mentioned in the description" and you try to copy it you can't.

I had intended to raise the cost of Metaphysical Shitposting to my normal full-album cost of $7 when I released the 8th track, but then ... I forgot. LOL. I also intended to let people know before I did it, so they could still sneak in for the $5 price. So, anyway, next time I add a track, it'll go to $7, but for now it's still $5! So go grab it!
