Was on my computer earlier looking at grid injection and battery backup for PV, while chatting with a friend about manufacturing an automatic transfer switch for going into standalone mode when the grid goes down (changing to local earth, then synching the local AC sine wave to the grid before rejoining). The cheapest of off the shelf solutions costs over €1,000 so we're looking at a partnership to do it ourselves.

Then the grid went down as we were discussing it. The whole area is affected for at least five hours. Need to get that battery backup sorted out..

@davep @simonzerafa Seems like SMA have this covered then 👍. Bit surprised their system does not then include the transfer switch needed?

Good luck with finding a solution!

They've got one approved supplier. There are different regs in different countries so I can see why they don't.

But having said that, their latest triphase stuff does integrate it.

Some friends are having a joint Burns Night and Chinese New Year party. They’re calling it Chinese Burns Night. I wasn’t going to go but they twisted my arm.

Just failed my ventriloquist exam.

Can't say I'm surprised.

It’s not fair. Just about everyone I know has this thing called FOMO

An old friend may be rehearsing a defensive security product pitch with me before the real thing with potential investors.

Do people have any generic investor-style questions for me I could use to make it a bit more realistic?

I work with very small companies but I recently spoke with the CFO from a company that is big enough to have an advisory board. When I used the expression "black swan event" it really struck a nerve. She keeps getting asked "have you considered 'black swan' events?" To which I answered, that's dumb, those are by definition unpredictable. She had a better answer: her modeling is based on the past 5 years which... reflects our recent black swans.

ittavern,

@davep

  • do you have a business plan?
  • what is the business model?
  • what are some concurrence products?
  • what makes your product better than the concurrence?
  • what is your target group?
  • what are your plans to get new customers?
  • how many (new) customers do you need per month to be profitable?
  • what expenses do you have?
  • what is your 1/3/5 years plan?
  • what is required/ how much money you need to start?
  • are there any expansions planned? If yes, what and for what reason.

Just some ideas. Maybe some more questions about the plans, scaling factors and so on. But depends on the product.

Biden's influence could stop the massacre in yet he does nothing except supply more arms to Israel.

If you think the intervention against the is proportionate but stopping the ongoing massacre isn't infinitely more important, you have very odd priorities indeed.

I am not a fan of swearing. If you can't find a more appropriate word, then you should fuck the fuck off.

On that subject, I have been surprised recently (it may be a regional thing) by people who think that "Cunt" is a gender specific offensive term.
I am acquainted with a number of cunts, and the majority are male. And, yes, they get on my tits, and I'm also male.

davep,

@Fragarach I think it's possibly due to the difference in usage between the UK and US.

aemaeth,

@davep @politico is this a recent thing in the EU, where companies have to declare this data (due to GDPR, I presume)?

davep,

@aemaeth @politico
Quite possibly. Not sure, to be honest. But if you don't get that visiting Politico from, say, the US, I would assume so.
