We've been talking about all sorts of social media-ish sites dying but over half a year later, none of them are dead (Tumblr, various fediverse software, X/twitter, Cohost, Pillowfort, etc.) and old places like Livejournal/Dreamwidth/Plurk are still around

Thinking back to what I liked most for microblogging/daily keep-up with folks UX, it was probably pre-ads-Plurk, since they had nuanced privacy settings (can lock a post to one or a more ppl), a horizontal timeline and thread for each post

💀 my friend was invited to join an art community called thehug[dot]xyz and asked if we knew about it.

Turns out it is run by Zuck's sister (ties with NFTs, meta, etc.) and they scraped my friend's art and bio and "preloaded" a public account/link/profile with it.

Their about page says "Hug is a global community for artists and art lovers to connect with one-of-a-kind opportunities and with each other."

YEA...an "art lover" that takes an artist's work and bio and uploads it w/o consent 🤢

This Seawhite sketchbook was gifted to me—the cover is from an oil painting by William Holman Hunt: Our English Coasts ('Strayed Sheep')

I started this in 2017 for plein art, then it turned into Tamagotchi 🤣, then some urban sketching, and the final ones (shown) are from life/photo, drawn directly with TWSBI eco stub and Lennon Tool Bar Wenshan Pouchong Tea ink. There are some questionable precipitates in the ink barrel but it smells and performs fine 🥴?

Pulled out an old box and paper to fold an accordion insert to make a new gen pen tray. I mainly want to prevent the rattling/pens going out of order, not so much protection 😂 I used an old Traveler’s Times newsletter for the insert.

Workroom Sido has a nice tutorial on making a sleek stacking pen tray set out of cardboard, paper, and fabric 😍 if you want to build something super nice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCiQjOr9wWg

@LeviKornelsen ouu yeah if you're used to using a variety of art tools and brushes then you should have no problem adapting!

I did a very POOR imitation of a portion of your picture to see if I could get similar levels of line variation it's possible. You can fill flat areas with ink with the lower angle too, while the ink is still wet.

Or another option is that you can use fountain pen ink in brush pens, like Kuretake Karappo BRUSH Pen.

@penfount mainly for casual line drawing or inking with waterproof inks (either comic pages or for watercolour later)!

Inks with shading add an extra element of interest when drawing/painting and separately I've used pigmented inks for paper marbling

Time flies when you're painting.
I want to try some gouache after I move so my paint dries matte instead of (somewhat) glossy with super thick watercolours
