I'm looking for some texts or philosophers who have talked about the "quantum of free will".

Specifically the weighted ball conceptual model of possessive will and the freedoms illustrated between the ball's environment and it's internal information (i.e. the weight's pos) I think it was on a hill in one example.

I can't remember if the ball has to be opaque or not for the informational theory and what copyability means for the model.

Anyone know anything like this?

"I'll take my daughter to her medical appointment" I said. "Ho ho, no need to call a taxi service" I added.

I shall go by the

The red line, fine, the green line: dead as a door nail. No trains and no replacement busses. Just masses of people waiting.

We walked from Park St to Kenmore seeking salvation.

Resting before heading onward.

is really not too happy when I try to embed 90 MB of images. Possibly I should use linking, instead. 🤔

@TerryHancock

Yeah I have a bit of work on the boil to help with that, only loading parts of images instead of the whole thing. Even if you were going to embed the whole thing in xml, there's ways of making it work.

someone should write a high performance vector graphics editor

doctormo,
@doctormo@floss.social avatar

@digiwizkid @mntmn

The problem isn't the editor, the problem is the renderers.

Really really complex documents are a pain in the arse to render, especially when the svg isn't well constructed (I've seen R packages output millions of tiny dots to fill a graph area for example)

I estimate the cost of writing a vector editor at about twenty million dollars. Time or cash. It's why people don't want to do it, too expensive.

@mntmn @digiwizkid I'm currently being paid by Inkscape to fix such crashes for 1.4, so this is the time to report them.

Though if its "out of memory" we might have more work to resolve it.

Stack trace should appear in the crash dialog since 1.3, copy and paste that into a report. No need for gdb or symbols.

doctormo,
@doctormo@floss.social avatar

@mntmn @digiwizkid

I've only ever seen that happen on windows machines with weird memory violations and Linux on out of memory errors.

There is 1.3.2 available and you're welcome to test 1.4b too, if that helps.

The worst kind of open source user is the ones that say "I donated to an open source project in the past"

As if $10 a couple of years ago means my completely unrelated project has an open contract to develop or fix whatever the free support request wants

My dudes, open source is an ongoing expense, not a one time "donation". If you believe in this industry, invest properly and consistently. Lots of people do!

(for all my fellow foss hackers, put the purse away, you guys are good, high five)

The motivation was simple. "Why am I paying star market $6 for two frozen bananas dipped in ok "

In the words of goodness gracious me: "I can make chocolate at home!"

So I did. Buying a 👩‍🍳 block of decent semi sweet 🍫 and using up some ripe 🍌, I halved, sticked and 🥶 on a 🌭 bun pan. After dipped in melted 🍫 once cold.

The problem... They're really f-nom-nom-inally good. Way, way better than the store ones. And I have doomed myself to always know what is possible. 🥺🤯

A tall yellow cup with a mess of melted chocolate inside it sits in a speckled blue Bennington potters dough mixing bowl in hot water.

I watched #Atlas last night on #Netflix recommendation. i.e. J-Lo battles robots in a mech suit

I enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed it while I also programmed on my second monitor. What I can say is that the plot is quite thin; the contrivances are quite contrived.

But what I saw was a more interesting film of childhood trauma and how it drives us as adults. The acting was critiqued on imdb, but I thought it was subtle, damaged, and the best part of the movie's themes.

I'm amused by what a great slogan for leaving twitter this is:

And the irony of it being a screengrab.

I'm slowly making my way through a 8 thousand line python addition to 's library for parsing text and font elements in properly. It's important and useful, but it's also a lot.

I'm not sure how to say "please run pylint over your code because my eyes hurt trying to read this". without sounding like an ungrateful jerk. 😅

I'm less enthused. I'll kick the Tory, everyone should. But unless Starmer is one hell of a liar, it's more of the same as we take the L this year.

There's an arms long list of reform needed to reverse the last 13 years. None of it has been in his manifesto.

Having a break from the whipping and a sop of water for the next 5 years, will not a recovery make.

Unless he's a liar of course.

Pretty much.

I certainly understand the desperate wish to stop being under the boot. Though I'm not convinced we are a country ready for bootless government.
