So I spent the last two years on a career break getting healthy. At the start I swore to myself I wouldn't work in the tech industry ever again. But here I am, considering going back.

I'm a former software developer.
I have a bachelor's degree in computer science and 2 years of professional experience in the field.

Job leads are appreciated.
Remote work preferred, but I'm willing to relocate.

i was thinking about my time in japan earlier today and i realized the reason i was happy then was because everything was pretty much taken care of. i didn't have to worry about money but i had a tiny place of my own and i was a 15 min walk from being able to eat cheap delicious food on the university campus. i had nothing to really worry about and a fulfilling social life

i've been alive 40 years and i got to feel like that for 0.5 years. that's 1.25%

@eniko I visited Tokyo back in August. One thing I really liked was how safe it felt.

I remember reading Blue Period volume one when it came out long ago and I didn't really get what Yatora was talking about at the time.

It's one of those things where "you had to be there" to understand.

Lots of building in the Shibuya area have reflective windows, so they show the sky when you look up at them. And the bricks on the sidewalks are glossy, so they can bounce blue light back at you when you look at them from certain angles.

Shibuya really does look blue sometimes.

A photo I took of the Shibuya Crossing Scramble building while I was in Japan. It's windows are reflecting the blue sky.
A photo of Shibuya Crossing early in the morning during my trip to Japan. The sidewalk bricks are glossy. From this angle they almost look blue gray.

Since it's the end of Summer, those battery powered neck fans are starting to go on sale. I recommend picking one up now at a discount while you can.

Why? Oh, because this past Summer was the coldest one of the rest of our lives. That's why.

You're future self will thank you.

    It's not for everyone.

I organize my follows into lists and pretty much just ignore the home page feed.

And I really like how the odds of me seeing a post are almost entirely dependent on other users I follow boosting it. So if multiple people in a single list are boosting the same post, then I know that they think it's important.

That being said, having a discovery algorithm option for the home page feed would also be nice.
