    The date sneaked up on me this year, attacking from behind. Every year on 9/11 I reflect, grateful I survived the attack. This year, I find myself angry. Some of that may be my own loss: my father to COVID this year; my unemployment. But I'm angry on this 22nd anniversary at what has fallen since: at the authoritarianism that overtook this country & threatens the world, racism and bigotry set loose, the pandemic killing still, my own field--journalism--failing to meet these challenges. 1/

    @jeffjarvis I'm angry, too. At Americans who say "never forget," but won't quit a platform whose 2nd top owner is a Saudi helping #1 use them as tools. Or no one blinking an eye when Saudi Arabia takes over the PGA.

    I recently visited the Flight 93 Memorial & in the museum overheard a snippet of GW Bush saying 6 months after the attack, "America will not forget." I had just walked the wall & seen "and unborn child" next to one of the crash victims names. I've been angry about it ever since.

    update: Now is a good time to take a little more care and put the mask back on in crowds. (No one will, but good advice is good advice, whether someone acts on it or not.)

    The positive rate of testing is higher than it's been since January. It's risen from 4.6% to 14% in one month.

    Hospitalizations, which is a lagging indicator, are also up from 58 to 285 COVID patients in a month.

    Trends point to more increases ahead! Be careful.

    @augieray I never stopped.

    Adding a couple points:

    I'm not paranoid about it, just determined to avoid long COVID.

    I ghostwrite a lot about COVID, which means I read a lot, including research papers.

    I get plenty of stares when I put on my mask. I don't care. There's always at least one person in the room who lets out a dry cough without covering their mouth. Never fails. 😀

    I began sounding the alarm on Bibi's goals years ago. I took a lot of grief for it. I stood by my view of him then and I stand by it even more today.

    That doesn't make me anti-Israel, it makes me conscious.

    He is a dangerous disaster for Israel and the Israeli people.
