I've been experimenting with the window AC/heat pump running off of the small solar battery inverter pack "generator", as in can I run it off-grid. It only goes for about an hour at 400W but might be able to run on solar panels at a constant 200W, except the AC, while able to infinitely-variable-inverter-drive itself, has no way to specify a max wattage, and sometimes reaches for 1200W 😒
“It’s absurd for ODOT to claim that their proposed $1.9 billion 10-lane highway is in compliance with the city’s existing plans for #climateAction, sustainable #transportation investment or neighborhood development. We filed this lawsuit because state law requires ODOT to follow the city’s #cleanAir and climate goals. ODOT shouldn’t be allowed to advance a project that brazenly violates the city’s adopted plans.” -- #NoMoreFreeways#ODOTGTFOpdx#Portland
"as part of a project for PSU’s Master of Urban and Regional Planning program. Students... are working with local nonprofit @bikeloudpdx to investigate the potential of adding a major bikeway to Sandy when it gets repaved by the #Portland Bureau of #Transportation in 2026."
"The way to fight #crime is not with stops based on hunches and pretext, but by investing proactively in communities and with #policing targeted at people for whom there is suspicion of serious criminal conduct.
On the other hand, there is a real #trafficSafety problem in this country… #transportation officials should focus their efforts... better lighting… #protectedBikeLanes & pedestrian crossings; self-ticketing cars with speed limiters, … [#transit]" 🚎 🚲
As much as I despise the democrats' playbook relative to the policy progress we need, particularly the ones in my state stalling voting reform with the "rank choice" fake solution, when it comes time to vote, your options are to vote for biden or fail to vote against trump.
If you want to protest the status quo, not driving for trips less than three miles on nice days would be a bigger flex than not voting. Pull the levers that actually move in the direction you want.
bunch of #pdxBikes#BikeFun tomorrow, #Portland 😎

Monday, PSU students will be holding a drop-in open house to gather feedback on people's preferences between different alternatives for bike, pedestrian, and placemaking improvements along #SandyBlvd between 14th and 28th #pdxBikes#Portland#transportation
I'm having a hard time believing, not that a #transportation agency would come up with a plan that was to sweep the broken glass and gravel off of the sidewalks and leave it in the bike lanes for a few days before sweeping it up, just that it wasn't done with intentional malice or disdain toward people on bikes. (months after it snowed and they graveled everything while plowing the snow onto the sidewalks) #BarburBlvd#pdxBikes#Portland#BikeTooter#ClimateDenial#CarSupremacy#ODOTGTFOpdx
"Today~130 people joined the Peabody/RAUC #bikeBus celebrated #NationalBikeToSchoolDay with our very own marching band by bike, courtesy of members of the School of HONK. Only the @bikepedantic mastermind could conceive and pull this off. Best Bike Bus ever."
Bikes don't need to replace everything cars do, like killing 40k Americans and life-changing injuries for millions more every year is entirely optional.
Yay so now we have fake USB-C devices, they will only charge on an A-to-C cable at low power, and won't work with C chargers (I'm guessing it doesn't negotiate the power-on thing.) Like they're just replacing the micro-B jack with something reversible.
What's the difference between free speech and a cityscape covered with lying, manipulative ads? The specific ad they're discussing shows SUVs being used to drive recklessly, doing criminal levels of environmental destruction, etc. Certainly there should be some accountability for false advertising and greenwashing, besides a public space without ads blocking the sidewalk, if not also free of visual pollution. Corporations are not people, unless shareholders are liable
