I think the hard part about these ideas for some people is that human rights are universal. "Even them?" Yes, even them. "What about...?" Yes, them too. "But surely you can't mean...?" All people, everyone, no exceptions.
@eamon@troublewithwords I think we fall into the trap of accepting received biases that there are exceptions. Like: that is a bad neighborhood, their country has a troubled past, they don't belong here, they have committed some unforgivable fault. They are a continuum, a condition, and not a collection of real human beings.

Reminder for underrepresented folk feeling sad discovering that some of the "founders" of Open Source are also open eugencists. Don't feel so sad! Because a lot of founders of Open Source are openly and vocally disdainful of those eugenicists, racists, and other bigots. ♥️👍🏿
There are a lot of different personalities in Open Source. And given the demographics of what OSS looked like back in the days, the percentage of bigots is higher than the public at large.
