I use Proton. But I continue to run into more and more websites and services that detect my VPN and refuse my connection, or just run literally 40 captchas in a row until I just give up....
I have seen many people in this community either talking about switching to Brave, or people who are actively using Brave. I would like to remind people that Brave browser (and by extension their search engine) is not privacy-centric whatsoever....
Dear @firefox : Please stop saving images as webp when I drag them out of the browser. Forever stop that. Even if they are webp originally, just give me a setting to auto-convert them to JPEG. When I get a webp file the first thing I have to do is convert it manually if I'm going to do anything with it.
I’ve been using VMware Player (free version) for a while now and it’s been working fine. Recently I switched to Wayland and VMware’s grab input behavior broke. The guest gets most keys correctly but Alt and Super are intercepted by the host. Clicking on the vm also gives me a remote desktop popup on the host prompting to...

There is no solution to that problem. If you lose your password it’s gone.
off-site cloud storage
This could be a server that is off-site but still controlled by you. Or just use a cloud hosting provider that you trust, the database is encrypted anyway. Or hell it could even be a hard drive in a box somewhere, assuming you never add anything to your database. Personally my off-site backup is a flash drive that I carry around with me at all times, and manually update whenever I make changes.
You’ve already answered your own questions in the “Some Solutions” section. If you completely lose your password to your vault there is nothing you can do, simple as that. Don’t lose it.
Cloud-based sync is incredibly easy with self-hosted cloud, as pointed out by the KeePassXC FAQ. Self-hosted cloud is effectively a local solution.
