Why do you like Mastodon (or any open source Fediverse app of your choosing) the most? (You can choose multiple choices)

Boosts appreciated for reach.

@rolle

Pretty much most of these.

But also, I get a lot more interaction on Mastodon, and it's genuine, not from bots spamming my posts. Despite its number, posting to Twitter is talking to a void, with most of my posts there going entirely unresponded to despite the use of tags and asking specific questions.

And in general, the atmosphere / vibe is better on Masto.

    Typical. "Rules for thee but not for me". I know that people dislike regulation, but this is why regulation (and existing laws) need to exist and to be enforced.

    I had the idea of using the video clips to show how the game performs in a solo player casual experience. The clips are completely random although stitched together to make some sort of logical sense. If anyone is interested regarding this hardware then I can definitely record better samples.

    Decided to do this completely at random. Why not do something with the odd clips I had saved.

    So have some random video clips.

    be them: Yeah but they're still wrong

    be me: .. how is he wrong when he has video showing it?

    be them: completely ignores me and proceeds to argue with others

    Guy was trying to say that MM screws industrial ships because they can never get away now. I see a lot of arguments saying this, but that's not what I'm SEEING in action.

    If you're curious about the of from pre-1.X to the Dalamud drop into 2.0, this is an amazing edit that presents cutscenes and in-game footage into a proper timeline, with Louisoix narrating over the relevant parts.

    It's actually fantastic. Like, you HAVE to watch this if the lore is something that you're into.

    In this vid I'm looking at the ships as I approach to deliver the mail and don't notice the box on the ground to my left.

    I only noticed it in 3rd person before lifting off, but a tractor beam couldn't move it. So I moved my ship over, dropped the cargo bay, lifted the wheels, and reversed onto it to scoop it up.

    This worked, but it was only halfway onto the ramp. Here I'm testing the tractor beam & found that it works, so I move onto the grid.

    Being that we're on computers, posts to Twitter, Masto, & other online services should already automatically translate things like the date, time and temperature to the local viewer's format. It's rather silly that this isn't already the case, yes?

    Admittedly this would require that the user type it in a specific way but that's not difficult. Using Vencord, for example, I can type 3:00 pm using these singular back ticks around the time, and it'll automatically send it as a Discord time stamp.

    I had such a rant about this on stream tonight.

    Long story short, an Alexander raid with a Faust had two wipes because we had new players who didn't know the mechanics.

    So 4 of the players immediately left rather than have any conversation with the new players. Two of us stayed, two were new.

    So many say that they want content to be harder. Well this is what happens when it's harder.

    "I want it harder but never want to deal with wipes!" Well it ain't harder then is it, fake ass fools.

    So, Elite: Dangerous is selling ships for real money now but in a twist they're kind of doing it worse than Star Citizen. Not in regards to the price tag - yet, anyway, but there are about 3 more ships not yet revealed - but in that the ship sells with at least some engineering completed.

    If you've ever played E:D then you how straight-up pay to win engineering is vs non-engineered ships.

    This is also on their brand new PvP focused ship, which just makes it all the more silly.

    ezlin,
    @ezlin@gamepad.club avatar

    If there's a silver lining it's that you can grind out their item mall currency via game play, with some caps to how quickly it's earned in-game. I can't be bothered to look it up but, in theory, players will eventually be able to buy the ship via grinding. How long (or not) that'll take I don't know.

    and if Elite is anything, it's a grind. So yeah, that's on brand I suppose.

    OTOH, FDev, rather unsurprisingly IMO, is breaking a promise after saying they'd never do this with their item mall.

    The funny thing about being P2W is that in Star Citizen you can spend disgusting amounts of money on ships but the bigger the ship, the more necessary the crew. Engineering (actual engineering, not ED's button click RNG) now exists in Arena Commander & is proven to necessitate a crew.

    Where as in ED you can buy a big ship and multicrew is a side thought. The ships are intended to fly solo.

    Spend the big money in SC & you need a crew to handle encounters. Get a big ship in ED, you fly it solo.

    3.23 wipe confirmed on SCL today. aUEC and rented ships were mentioned specifically.

    100% expected this. They explained that it's for their analytics regarding their changed economy, which is obvious and was fully expected but there we go!

    ezlin, to StarCitizen
    @ezlin@gamepad.club avatar

    It ain't much, but it's honest work.

    Players are raking in millions from a single salvaging job and here I am making my first million from mining after about a week.

    This is a final profit of about 300K, which ain't great, but this is using rented vehicles. Those vehicles cost me a total of 170,952 aUEC.

    The rented miner can't have its equipment upgraded so it's quite inefficient. It can't mine the best rocks.

    To buy the Hull A I'll need another 290,853 aUEC. So, another week.

    ezlin,
    @ezlin@gamepad.club avatar

    I can't help but wonder if they're going to wipe aUEC and / or ships. The reason for pondering this situation is simple.

    First, people are making several million credits in one salvaging job. That's insane.

    Second, they're adjusting the economy. Ships and guns are both having their prices changed significantly.

    They can't test the impact of those new prices when everyone has over 10 million aUEC.

    And if you have ships, then you don't need to buy them.

    So I do wonder if I'll keep this ship.😆

    Valid. I also can't afford multiple 4K displays.

    In that case, multiple smaller monitors is definitely better. :blobcatgiggle:

    SCL confirmed bed logging will be a buff if you get a good night's sleep, but bed logging will not be a requirement. You'll log out and log in where you left off.

    YES this is exactly how it should be, and it's what I've been suggesting for quite awhile now.

    Hell yeah~
