Sometimes I would just love to write "RTFM". I don't, it's rude, but damn, some people could really use getting an "RTFM" slapped around their ears (or rather, eyes) here and there.

I totally get it when people can't find the right spot for the info they are looking for, and that's on me. But I just had a case where the person even posted a link to a very short doc page that contained the right info under a descriptive sub heading. And I think that's not on me.

Wenn ich in meiner Gemeinde den Bau einer Windkraftanlage anregen wollte, wie ginge ich denn am sinnvollsten vor? Meine Überlegung geht in Richtung Genossenschaft, während die Gemeinde um Ausweisung geeigneter Flächen gebeten wird. Gibt es da Initiativen, die beratend zur Seite stehen?

Gerne boosten für mehr Reichweite.

@cassidy There's an artist who made a rather large icon pack, currently it's on F-Droid. He asked for someone flatpak'ing it for Linux but I'm unsure if there's a way to integrate such icons system-wide. I could imagine building some kind of SDK extension for using those icone but the goal is to make them available for tinkering in system themes. few years back the German state offered some stuff as reparation to my family for being expropriated under Hitler and the Communists. their deal was great: pay nothing to get something worth nothing, but you sign that you build it up again according to building codes and historical protection, keep it in good repair and open it to the public once done. what a great deal :SoraWow: and if you decline you'll not get a thing since you were offered reparations.

@apps Can you do something about the video play icon not being recognizable on white background? Or doesn't the library you use allow you to change the icon?

I'd prefer it a) being bigger and b) having a drop shadow or similar to make it distinguishable from light backgrounds.

Trying to get a Linux laptop to work with external monitors for the first time and oof. It is not the year of the Linux desktop. Monitors disappear and reappear randomly, with different names and orders, screwing up any scripting I have trying to configure them. That's when they bother to show up at all. I'm sure it all works great on desktop machines where monitors aren't being added and removed dynamically all the time, but external hardware with my Linux laptop has never been a pleasant experience. Using the laptop by itself, though, is always perfect.

@apps Is there a way to customise the thread / discussion view in Fedilab? When I tap on a reply to a discussion in my timeline, Fedilab loads the whole discussion (as seen by my instance) but jumps to the top. My expectation is for it to jump to the toot I tapped enabling me to read the context of the reply. Also displaying all branching toots gets quite overwhelming.

Yeah, basically how Twitter did it wasn't that bad.

@apps Did you consider implementing support for https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/markers/ for switching devices for reading? I use Fedilab on my tablet at home but rarely on my phone because my timeline position isn't synced across my devices.

online anti cheats are the worst thing

Recently, i had to move from nixos to windows against my will simpy because of anti cheats. While i dont game that much, the few games i enjoy playing are all online with some kind of anti cheat. I used to dual boot but i was tired of having to wait for my slow hdd to load windows (i only have one ssd). I literally used linux...

@apps Can you tell me what the counters at the icons for home 🏠 and notifications 🔔 mean? They don't seem to change on anything I do but rather randomly.
