Personally I would have no problem interrupting them with “I’m sorry, can we talk about something else?” and if they continued to ramble I would just ignore them or respond with obviously disinterested comments like “no way”, “you don’t say”, “that’s crazy”, etc…
Honestly though, I’d be interested to hear what girls would say to this because they probably deal with this a lot.

Find ways to enjoy life that don’t involve spending money. Libraries, little free libraries, enjoying nature, writing, minimalism, meditation, stoicism. Be vigilant and resist spending money, see it as giving the finger to the corporate overlords. Make an effort to get off the hedonic treadmill.

Notice how it only says that Threads posts will be shared on the fediverse. It says nothing about fediverse posts showing up in Threads. This is meta allowing its users to spam the fediverse. It’s a hostile, egotistical feature with no sense of community.
As somebody who used to publish to FB by subscribing my FB account to RSS feeds so that the posts from those feeds would show up on my “wall”, I am highly skeptical in the long term interoperability of anything FB owned that directs content created outside the walled garden into the walled garden.

On my phone the map view is just black. Doesn’t matter where I try to view, it’s just black. Screenshots make sure we all see an accurate view regardless of device or whether or not the demo server is up.
