frogfruit,

I have found this video helpful for my upper back and shoulder pain. He also has a shoulder impingement video where he mentions scapular stabilizers that might be more helpful for your needs but I haven’t tried that one.

Girls are significantly less likely to be diagnosed than boys and are more likely to get diagnosed later in life.

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10173330/

Edit: Underdiagnosis in female-presenting children will continue to be a problem until it is recognized and corrected. When this sort of silent type of ADHD is codified, the minority of boys with this type should also benefit as a result. It’s a women’s issue because it predominantly affects women. It’s really gross to come into a women’s space and essentially say “forget the many women; let’s talk about the few men.”

frogfruit,

So? This is a women’s community.

frogfruit,

In childhood, the ratio of boys to girls with ADHD is about 3:1 whereas in adulthood it is closer to 1:1, suggesting that women and girls are underdiagnosed in childhood

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10173330/

It’s not needlessly gendered to talk about issues that predominantly affect women.

frogfruit,

That’s a 20 year old paper. Diagnosis rates have risen a lot since then, and more recent studies suggest that boys still get diagnosed about 3 times more often than girls. I don’t see the point of pretending like this isn’t a gendered issue. We’re talking about an issue that predominantly affects women. No one is saying that men aren’t suffering. From an awareness standpoint, it makes more sense to draw attention to the larger population of sufferers to press the urgency of the issue. Once this silent type of ADHD that is more common in girls is codified, the boys with this type should benefit as well.

frogfruit,

FYI, Ritalin (methylphenidate HCl) is not an amphetamine. Methylphenidates and amphetamines are considered separate drug classes for treating ADHD. my.clevelandclinic.org/…/11766-adhd-medication

Do you often hear the ringing of switching power supplies and devices when you are in a quiet space?

I’m curious, how many people are aware of these sounds. I have designed, etched, and built my own switching power supplies along with winding my own transformers. I am aware of the source of the noise. So, does anyone else hear these high frequency sounds regularly?

frogfruit,

Age related hearing loss can actually make you more sensitive to certain sounds. I have difficulty understanding speech but increased sensitivity to sounds including electrical buzzing.

frogfruit,

Ritalin is also allowed

frogfruit,

Ritalin/Concerta is also allowed.

frogfruit,

Intuniv, Strattera, Concerta, and Vyvanse can be prescribed for ADHD in Japan. Ritalin is also available but not for ADHD, though travelers can bring a maximum of 2.16g of methylphenidate.

Most doctors would be willing to prescribe a different medication for the duration of your trip. It of course won’t be ideal, but it would be a temporary hiccup that might be worth it considering you seem to be really excited for the trip.

frogfruit,

I did read that which is why I noted in my comment that I realize it won’t be ideal but may be worth reconsidering for the opportunity. I also wanted to provide some more complete information for the people in the comments who were gleaning false conclusions from misleading information.

frogfruit,

Please do not imply that I did not fully read the post because you did not like my answer. I noted in my comment that I realize the situation is not ideal, and I provided information that I thought might be worth reconsidering. I’m sorry I did not realize that adjusting your medication is such a hard no for you.

However, it is disingenuous to claim that Japan “absolutely forbids stimulant medication in the country” when that simply isn’t true, and this was causing multiple people in the comments to come to false conclusions. Many other people would consider a temporary adjustment agreeable, and it is unfair to lead people to believe that this isn’t possible unless they can tolerate non-stimulant medication.

frogfruit,

It does not say that in the OP. They said “I don’t really want to… risk going on a new medication for the trip” which is not the same as “please don’t give me advice on alternative medication” and was also preceded by a false claim that no other stimulants would be allowed.

frogfruit, (edited )

As I stated in my previous comment, it was not clear. You told me I was wrong, you continue to reply to me with false information, and you wonder why I respond defending myself. OP does not seem to have hard feelings about this, so I don’t understand why you seem to.

frogfruit,

No hard feelings. I did notice that the ministry documentation was written rather confusingly, so I can see how it could be twisted. It does say you can email them with inquiries at least.

frogfruit,

Same. It’s a struggle for me to learn lyrics unless I’m reading them at the same time. And then by the time I learn the song, I’m often sick of it.

frogfruit,

“Magic mushrooms, LSD and other psychedelic drugs increase sexual function and may be able to save struggling marriages, a study from Imperial College London suggests.”

frogfruit,

Have you looked into autism? I was always burned out, labeled “anxiety and depression” and tried over 20 meds for it. I did not improve until my diagnosis of ADHD and later autism. Taking proper meds and working with a neurodivergent affirming therapist has helped me manage my quirks and take necessary precautions/accommodations to avoid burning out. My life still isn’t where I want it to be, but I no longer want to die.

What is a pickme in context of Trans people Afar

So I dealt with a nasty person a few days ago and one of the things this person did was calling people pick-mes while accusing them of being transphobic. The problem is I have no idea what this word or phrase means. I know it isn’t good but I don’t really understand how it relates to someone other than somehow being...

frogfruit,

It basically means a trans person who cares a lot about appealing to conservatives/transphobes as “one of the good ones,” in ways that are often damaging to other trans people.

Someone who is called a pick me might say stuff like “you don’t have to use preferred pronouns if they don’t pass” or “you’re not a [man/woman] if you don’t have [sex organ].” They might be against transition even though they have transitioned and don’t regret it. They might excessively shit talk other trans people. They might “debate” a lot of conservatives and end up agreeing with them on various points.

frogfruit,

If you’re using an app, you may need to adjust image quality in the settings. For Boost, there’s an HD button on the image by default.

frogfruit,

“Disproportionate increases in serum DHT are reported after administration of all transdermal testosterone products with the higher DHT/T ratio attributable to the strong expression of 5-alpha reductase in skin structures which foster the conversion of testosterone to DHT during transdermal passage.” onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/andr.12357

“transdermal TRT elevated serum DHT (5.46-fold, 95% CI: 4.51 to 6.60) to a greater magnitude than intramuscular TRT” www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4245724/

How much have you experimented with injections? You may want to try alternative esters (e.g. cypionate, enanthate). Some people find subcutaneous better than intramuscular or vice versa. It can also help to increase frequency, like splitting a weekly dose into 2 or 3 times a week. Injecting weekly was giving me issues (e.g. headaches, bad skin) that have resolved since switching to 2x/week.

For facial/body hair growth, I would suggest minoxidil if you haven’t tried already. A lot trans guys/mascs have had success with it. Muscle growth might just be unlucky genetics, but many people underestimate the power of a bigger calorie surplus, more protein, and/or a more targeted fitness plan.

Transition can be really frustrating for sure, and for some more than others. I would also recommend a trans affirming therapist or support group if you don’t have one already. My therapist has helped me a lot with managing expectations/frustrations/patience.
