Okay so, final thoughts about Thai horror drama Enigma?

It was great. I'm impressed with how much it managed to tell in the short amount of time the show had.

Visually stunning, as I said before.

The tension buildup, and overall pacing felt good.

And also, it's just a cool story and universe.

I look forward to returning to it for season 2.

@massivelyop so many thoughts about this.

For starters, everything in their statement is gross? Which makes sense because there was no way to frame it as a good thing for players.

But also, the fact that itโ€™s a game, and games are for playing, is abstracted out into our recreation time being an โ€œuntappedโ€ revenue stream for them โ€” despite the fact that weโ€™re talking about games that are, generally speaking, already paid for.

The crossed purposes is tangible in this statement.

Question time: The cast of We Are having multiple people who usually play the supportive friend role playing romantic leads this time around has me thinking...

Are there any supporting actors that you would like to see in a main role, for whatever reason?

Especially as part of the lead couple.

I realize this may seem obvious but from what Iโ€™ve seen on lives, some people have difficulty with this, and Iโ€™m trying not to be a jerk about it, so:

Itโ€™s okay to be sad that two artists whom you are used to collaborating together, stopped. Itโ€™s okay to have an emotional reaction when your faves break up.

From idols groups, to acting ships, to a world famous dancing duo who were openly a couple, quietly breaking up, personally and professionally.

Itโ€™s okay to feel.

That part is ok

However, going into these peopleโ€™s spacesโ€” their socials, their lives โ€” any context in which you can communicate with them, and venting those emotions is not okay.

We do not see the full picture, but odds are they are dealing with their own feelings about what happened. Decisions like that are rarely easy.

Find a fandom space to process your emotions, bc the artists are doing their own processing.

Itโ€™s not helpful to themโ€”or youโ€” to process your stuff at them.

@emmaaum people will take what they want out of a series, and that wonโ€™t always be the same thing.

However, yeah: when it reaches a point where people forget that underneath it all is a whole human being with their own emotions and experiences, and donโ€™t exist just to play out their desires, it gets not fun.

For example: Fan reaction to NetJamesโ€™s โ€œbreak upโ€ (James left acting entirely) has included a lot of whining/complaining to Net about it during his insta livestreams.

@emmaaum thatโ€™s not what I was saying? Nor do I think you need to withdraw anything, even if it was.

Though there are parts I donโ€™t fully understand, and possible aspects I donโ€™t agree with.

I did want to give you an example, as a literal response to the imagine bit, to see if it aligned with expectation.

The extra bit was about personal experience. Iโ€™ve been part of couples that were treated as social anchors, and dealt with the dehumanizing fallout of breaking up in that situation.

It was inspired by whatโ€™s been going on currently with Net & James, as James has left acting. Some NetJames fans have decided to react to the news by coming into Netโ€™s insta lives and basically tell him to get James back.

But really, itโ€™s for any fandom. Like, on the off chance that someone just needs to be told in order to understand why itโ€™s not a good idea to do stuff like that.

Especially with another pair possibly working on their last show together.

You know that one of the most difficult things for me and is?

Making decisions.

When writing, thereโ€™s a certain amount of collapsing possibilities, things that depend on other things so the more things are set, the more they set other things in order to be a cohesive whole.

Even just writing a scene narrows it down from the nebulous idea of the scene.

And that part is tricky for me. I have a habit of writing multiple versions of a scene. But that just makes branching stories.

I am currently seperated from my beloved Chromecast and TV so have to make do without my Youku, WeTV and iQIYI. So I am rewatching Ancient Detective. I watched it many moons ago in a very chaotic fashion, so I made a promise to rewatch it, but slower. It's even better than I remember - a detective tale, very classic in its set up; focuses on brotherhood and fighting between sects, the whole deal. Every character is unique! If you've not watched it, give it a try!

In my experience, it is a mistake to allow engineers to design user interfaces.

There are people who specialize in designing user interfaces. Hire those for your project.

Even if the engineers tell you they can do it better.
