@TheMetalDog This is an album that seems to get so much love, but I just don't get it. I've tried and tried and tried to like this, but it's ... bollocks isn't the right word. It's just not good. A big part of my apathy is the sound of the guitars. As far away from the first two records as you can get.

On Friday the held the Magic to only 74 points, which was the record for the lowest amount of points scored by a team in the @nba this season. Then yesterday they came out and scored 73 against the Sixers, who scored only 79, thus giving us the lowest-scoring game of the NBA season. Yes, a full-time, professional NBA game in the year of our Lord 2024 finished 79-73.

- – Appetite for Destruction (1987). I've learned to separate utter contempt for certain artists (Morrissey, David Lee Roth, Axl Rose, etc.) from appreciation of the music they helped make. Appetite didn't reinvent rock, but it dialed back the hairspray long enough to induce a touch of grit and danger. And while I can do without hearing "Sweet Child 'o Mine" ever again, "Night Train," "Paradise City," etc. pack a wallop it would be churlish to deny.

@Great_Albums I've long argued that this record, and not Nevermind, is what killed '80s rock/glam/hair metal. After this, bands like Warrant, Skid Row and Tesla turned way heavier. In just two albums, Warrant went from slick sounding songs like "In The Sticks" to "The Hole In My Wall." That made early '90s bands like Trixter and Firehouse sound so weak, and opened up things for the Seattle crew.
