I do not love that a lot of the same driving mentality permeates how people move around on crowded MUPs in If you were in the group of bros loudly ringing your bells in unison to get people walking to move right off the path so you all could blast through the middle so fast I could almost feel you on my left shoulder, well I’ll tell you to fuck off in person when you’re stopped next time too. Slow the hell down and wait a singular minute once in a while

It’s fairly intuitive that when you’re approaching people walking from behind, and people are also walking towards you on the other side, you can adjust your speed before hand, gauge when people walk past each other, let people know in some fashion, but I guess intuitive is very fucking subjective. I get it, shits very crowded even on week days. But you’re not special. If you have an emergency than call a fucking ambulance, otherwise I’m gunna yell at you #ottawa #ottbike #biketooter

So we have via rail tickets booked for August and naturally I loaded the tickets in Apple Wallet… then a few days later I got an email saying the schedule was going to change and now I’ve gotten 2 new sets of tickets and I’m sick of adding and deleting tickets 🥸 I should be able to just use the same set of tickets regardless of what schedule changes but I’m annoyed at this process. If the time changes by 5 minutes and I need a whole new set of tickets? Gesus…

We’ve put roughly 4,800 kms on two e-bikes in just over a year. ~2,800 on the Yuba (no riding Dec-March) since end of April last year and 2,000 kms on our Load4 75 Reise & Muller since the end of August, 2023. We’ve had lots of bus trips and I’m averaging only 9 kms of walking a day. Living without a car can be very fucking frustrating and limiting in a city like but I wouldn’t trade it for anything

@sortius I’d easily trade one cargo bike and maybe even a pinky finger for a good tram system! I follow someone on instagram who lives in Melbourne and is constantly showing the public transit system there and decent bike networks! We went from downtown living to not quite the suburbs (Ottawa is a bit fucked as a city) and these bikes have given us just amazing quality of life

@energisch_ @sortius I can understand this! The kid is only 4 so the e-cargo bikes are pretty amazing still for long 40+ km days of which there are many now that it’s spring/summer. It makes the adventures a lot less sweaty 😂

    @dan613 I don’t disagree but the conservatives have spent the past 4 yrs specifically naming JT as the boogeyman and mastermind for every little thing, 24/7, 365. Most people want change according to polls, and PP is the only choice for most of those people. I dunno, but I think the momentum would shift if there were one or two other warm bodies as leaders of the other two parties

    Chatted with a pharmacist this week about #covid boosters and they can only give them to folks over 65 and immunocompromised… unsure what kind of documentation that requires but province won’t pay for anything other… all the while movie industry folks I follow on social media show that everyone (actors don’t but everyone around them do) on movie sets still have to mask or they lose insurance coverage. So curious why #ottawa #cdnpoli #onpoli

    This makes me so fucking mad because my local small grocery store, the only place nearby to get fruit and vegetables, closed in December over a liquor license dispute - their square footage wasn't large enough to be considered a grocery store!!!! - and now the government is rolling out liquor sales to corner stores.     I walked down Scott St yesterday for a few kms and I can’t even remember how many people I saw driving and texting. Stopped at an intersection and using their phones. Using a phone and driving is more dangerous than drinking and driving but the big, bad repercussions do fuck all at deterring people because “repercussions” are political window dressing. Like, the chances of killing someone while you text and drive are pretty fucking high, but, well, shrug from all involved #cdnpoli #onpoli

    @dairpo I’ve seen a few cops on bikes out here on the Britannia area MUPs that should spend a day riding Scott st. They’d make so much money. I just think if you drive and text, your car should be impounded for 30 days for a first “caught” offence

    I’m reading Elamin’s “Son of Elsewhere.” I’ve been pretty sparing with what bound books I spend time reading. I’ve loved Elamin for a long time and his book is wild. The journey of his writing is beautiful.

    @WTL oh I loveee biking in birks, especially the rubber ones. They dry almost immediately. I know it looks like I’m going 40 km/hr but I don’t have speed bikes and never had an issue using them! The most breezy and comfortable

    Gunna give myself some props here. I attempted focaccia today, well yesterday then it was in the fridge till today. Learned a few things and will make more but it’s pretty tasty if I say so myself. First time in my life I’ve ever made bread… gunna just keep trying new things

    Hey or folks around that are interested in the idea of a but have never seen one up close or ridden one. I’m not an organizer but found this on instagram and will probably try and make it out for the show and tell with our two e-cargo bikes. More people need to see them everyday in all the places, in all the situations, for all the reasons people need to move around and live. Please share and come out!

    I just listened to an video about the stress of booking a flight from Barcelona to Paris… the Ryanair airport is very far from Barcelona and absolutely not worth the price of tickets BUT… you can take a direct train from Barcelona to Paris that takes 6 wonderful hours for $126 fucking Canadian dollars 😭😭😭😭 my god I miss living over there sometimes. The overnight from Barcelona to Milan was a fav train I took a few times

    Was 1/2 way across Richmond Rd when the 57 bus comes eastbound. Nooooo. I waved at the bus and dude stopped and blocked a bunch of traffic to let me jump on 😂 Good drivers out there in the wild
