Bought an internet radio for the kitchen so I can play my snapcast streams to it.

Obviously:

  • I had to enter the WiFi password with a dial.
  • It doesn't allow you to load your own streams, but
  • it loads the streams through a dodgy unencrypted http connection.

Time to hack in my own functionality?

I saw the story running about Amazon building bipedal warehouse robots to help out. I have some concerns.

First, it's laughable to think this wouldn't undercut human jobs. No company will ever admit to it on-air, because unions and lawyers would be at you faster than you can say prime.

Also, this is a stupid use of tech. The reason they are going for bipedal is, as they stated, because of stairs.

I am shocked, shocked! WhatsApp messages during the UK COVID enquiry period were deleted.

Who could have expected that public figures would use an out-of-band communication mechanism, then remove all evidence. Surely they would have left all that unreported incriminating data available!

Just dreampt up an analogy on how my (sometimes frustrating) thought process works in conversations.

Imagine we're sitting in a park looking at clouds and you ask me "what do you see in the clouds?". I'll respond with "ooh, a plane" and then internally I'll think (in the space of 20s):

  • But what kind of plane?
  • Boeing 737?
  • Wait, Boeing who have safety issues?
  • Wait safety issues?
  • Did I ever resolve my servers backup issues?

"Hmm, I should fix my server today"

Other person: ???

Oh yeah, I did some bouldering yesterday and it was a lot of fun. While the legs had no trouble, I have terrible core fitness and struggled to pull myself up a lot.

Right so I wasn't massively hyped over because when people enthuse a Distro at me I recoil into my comfy shell BUT:

I used it today to setup my new music workstation and kinda blown away that you just set a few config options and it all just...falls into place.

I still have my comfy existing setup but yeah, this is cool :)
