The Victorian Internet book will be interesting to folks who are thinking about decentralized networks. So many of the same issues we have today with centralized solutions (data loss, lossiness of data, speed, security) were clearly difficult then to do in a non-communal manner and in a lot of cases, states or wealthy enterprises stepped in to require homogenous networks (mainly for trade purposes).

I should try a few different distros out on ease of install. Tangentially, is there information on the support matrix for systems? Or some boot image that can do a bunch of checks for support then do a netinstall (or have some internal heuristics to determine the best OS/DE setup to use)?

Figured this info exists somewhere.

You know, at first look, https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-reform is expensive.

But I think this is one of those "you get what you pay for". My laptop is out of stock (https://frame.work/products/laptop-diy-11-gen-intel?q=processor) and is probably about $700.

But the Reform will probably last longer than my laptop even with repair costs (as the parts for it will be cheaper; my current display, core and storage will be more expensive per part than needing to upgrade that with the reform)

The word "pseduoscientific" isn't as bad as it sounds if you decenter science as a place of truth (or if you also understand science to be a mutable and adapting means of discovery).

Something incapable with the scientific method isn't "false" or "not true".
