This is giving Naomi Klein/Wolf energy (in terms of the shift from people's responses and in reference to how she saw Wolf as a doppelganger outside herself - in this case, it's within and without self awareness)

I got let go from my current role. To say I saw it coming would be half true, but I was not expecting to be out in the blinds this soon. Open to a lot right now, more info at https://jacky.wtf/work. (https://jacky.wtf/2024/5/20Fw)

Glad I found this photo in Nextcloud because the use of the term "racism" gets confused as "ouchie, my feelings" and it's not that at all.

Sounds like Google spends more money on entrenching power instead of providing value to the public: https://mastodon.social/@adamconover/112548610773514271

This led me to learn about Neeva (never heard of it until now) and found https://www.theverge.com/2023/5/20/23731397/neeva-search-engine-google-shutdown

From the article, "building the search engine was actually the easy part. “Throughout this journey, we’ve discovered that it is one thing to build a search engine, and an entirely different thing to convince regular users of the need to switch to a better choice,” Ramaswamy and Raghunathan continued.

Technology is always secondary to social functionality. This makes the need to push peers and folks to not succumb solely to corporate branding campaigns vital.

Slightly related to companies using capital and resources to consolidate market power, I did see a TikTok today that led me to this: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/21/technology/apple-doj-lawsuit-antitrust.html

The US government has been saying F/LOSS advocates have been saying for decades, following:

"The department joined 16 states and the District of Columbia to file a significant challenge to the reach and influence of Apple, arguing in an 88-page lawsuit that the company had violated antitrust laws with practices that were intended to keep customers reliant on their iPhones and less likely to switch to a competing device. The tech giant prevented other companies from offering applications that compete with Apple products like its digital wallet, which could diminish the value of the iPhone, and hurts consumers and smaller companies that compete with it, the government said".

Undue loyalty to the company (or to any, companies aren't people) hasn't ever been merited and this is a ringing reminder.

I'm still reading this piece about digitally communing with the dead and my great-grand aunt is already telling me to leave these people alone (with Pocahontas energy): https://fortune.com/2024/06/04/ai-dead-relatives-eternos/ (https://jacky.wtf/2024/6/_3CR)

Okay question:

I have both https://github.com/nvim-telescope/telescope.nvim and https://github.com/folke/trouble.nvim going for me.

trouble's approach gives me more of the IDE/IntelliJ energy whereas telescope gives me more of the Sublime Text pop-over that (IMO) it pioneered (to me).

Does anyone use one over/instead of the other and if so, why?
