@johndroid Lemmy and the fedeverse isn't for everyone. If your used to getting told what to do by corporations go back to Twitter/Reddit and they will sensor you and sell your activity/Data if you wanna stay free stick with lemmy and Mastodon
@ppptan@johndroid Reddit and lemmy are hard when you first start l. Eventually you will get muscle memory and it will become second nature. I think people that are on Lemmy and Mastodon are there to escape oppression from the man (Corporate) They all provide a service but people want freedom. Nobody can't stop you from using Reddit. We just know that the CEO is there for the bottom dollar no matter who gets in the way.
@ppptan@johndroid Reddit is hard also even you first start. Everything is hard at the beginning. Lemmy got documentation cause it's so vast and you can do more. Also it's something new. I moderate 3 subs and use reddit mastodon and lemmy. I been. On reddit 6 years and hit the frontpage 5 times. I can honestly say that mastodon is easier even though I know reddit in and out. I studied reddit and just got better at it.

@1chemistdown@AnotherPerson Boost is like a retweet on Twitter it shares to your own followers on your instance and upvote is like Reddit. You like there post comment/reply
@kobra@AnotherPerson@1chemistdown Yep the boost is only for Mastodon. The upvote is on the instance. You have to manually go there and upvote it. Mastsdon and other instances can only comment, reply and view post. You can't create, upvote etc..
@kosmicpulse@AnotherPerson@1chemistdown I don't think you can. I think you can only share within an instance to somebody on that instance. I actually haven't tried. instance to instance but you can't do instance to another server. The only way is to get the url of the article/message grab the url and put it in a browser for somebody else and it will take them to what you where doing. I'm not really sure but I think thats kinda how it works
@Goathound@Hurts@Izzent Maybe he was over here a long time ago. Went to reddit. Saw all the popular communities and Created all of them. I would signup for another instance, create the community you want. then link everyone. enough people then they will get bigger then the one on lemmy.world instance. Worth a shot
I've been trying to make people aware of Lemmy on discord and Mastodon, but it's always met with resistance citing "the devs are pro authoritarianism tankies." Kbin seems to be picking up steam because of the developer baggage....
@Dymonika@rimlogger Give it some time. Took Reddit 13 years. Mastodon and lemmy are gaining traction. We got to get out of the Reddit mentality to every break free
@wecalledhimmavis@TipRing Once they get rid of old reddit then I'm gone completely. Old reddit makes reddit bareable. I prefer mastodon and lemmy now. Only been on since the 12th and can say both are hands down better then Reddit
@Cameri I came to Android to use rif for reddit. It's gone now and now i'm using the mastodon app chatting with everyone on lemmy.world and other instances. I have a main account on lemmy.world but i just use it to moderate my sub check my notifications and that's about it. I really like my S23 though
@ipkpjersi Yes. You basically get the community name in mastodon do a search for it then follow that community. Once in the mastodon app the home feed will be post from that community from wherever that instance/community is. You can the comment and reply all that good stuff. You can't creat post or have the lemmy.ml or other instance front page just your own instance front page
It took me probably less than a month to completely stop checking Digg altogether. Reddit's decidedly less slick interface had me confused and the content wasn't as easy to digest as with Digg, but it didn't take long to completely abandon it. That was like ten years ago....
@cecilkorik@MonkCanatella You got to look at it a different way. The influx of users on one instance will overload the server but many instances plus mastodon and and all other indtycan handle it. It will be hard to get over Reddit but come the 30th the real test will come and I think Kenny and all the other instances will be ready
Beehaw defederating effective immediately from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works (beehaw.org)
Let's not have global Lemmy default to US (or some region)
Ok I hope I won't come off as an ass here. I'm not always the most eloquent....

Why do you personally prefer using an Android phone?
Everyone has their preferences, I would love to hear why you guys prefer using Android!
When I moved from Digg to Reddit, I used to check back on Digg until eventually the content on Reddit became better than on Digg. The same will happen here.
