@LachlanUnchained I was on Reddit for 6 years and never heard of decentralized anything. I used this one twitter app and it was like login to mastodon. Like wtf is a mastodon 😭😭
I've just deleted my #Reddit account. No time for centralized, techbro-led, user-disrespecting platform. Also, all posts were first manually deleted, so no left value from me there.
Twitter owner Elon Musk may have had an influence on Reddit’s CEO ahead of changes to the website that have resulted in a user-led rebellion on the platform....
Twitter plans to focus on video, creator and commerce partnerships to revitalize the social media company's business beyond digital advertising, according to an investor presentation by owner Elon Musk and new Chief Executive Linda Yaccarino that was reviewed by Reuters....
EDIT: Thank you all for your answers, now I'm reassured this platform is in good hands and we will always have the freedom to switch. Let's make this place vibrant, diverse and decentralized, like the old web used to be....
@CannaVet@ZephyrXero Admins need to make it clear that this is a reddit alternative. it's not reddit. They need to hurry up because June 30th The next wave of the reddit migration will come over and overload everything. Admins need to put it in the sidebar when users first join
Not sure what's happening with the ranking algorithm, but it seems like the default main page is still displaying the same set of popular posts from a few days ago....
I really want Lemmy to work but I'm having a difficult time tracking different communities across different instances. It feels like I'm doing something wrong. I typically just land on the lemmy.world front page and scroll through there, and I see some interesting stuff, but I'd like to learn how to curate it a bit more
@sab@clueless_stoner@yads Yea when the blackout started I didn't know what I was doing. Created a username on lemmy.world and some subs. Found about mastodon created an account there and didn't realize I only needed one Lol. I use the lemmy username for upvoting and my subs but I use Mastodon for everything else. Comments, replies etc.. I like the local and fedeversetabs on Mastodon. I guess everyone got there own niche.
@UniversalFlamingo I think you have to login to your instance with the server you made then you can interact with everyone. Example my mastodon I can login via mastodon and interact with all lemmy people. If I have a lemmy account I login through lemmy and can chat, comment on mastodon people
@Lemmyin Takes about 1 day and then you are a pro. I have a mastodon account and lemmy account. and i'm satisified. just downloaded ivory for my iphone for mastodon
@MadCybertist@SonNeedGym@hydra@Hedup Yep. They might seem like there talking but you will be talking to yourself. They have to federate to be able to talk and see all there comments and post. you might see some stuff now cause its cached but once they reboot or whatever you won't see anything
I have noticed this couple of times, I can't reply to users from kbin.social. The loader keeps spinning, and if you refresh, the reply doesn't show....
@alejandro it's a reply to a comment or post. If you never used third party apps and only official then that's probably why you haven't seen it before. All the lines you see are different levels of replies
ou might have seen that we've been defederated from beehaw.org. I think there's some necessary context to understand what this means to the users on this instance....
@focusedkiwibear@Graphine After I get all the photos/video from my sub on Reddit I will be handing it over to one of my mods. I'm done with Reddit no matter what happens. Long live the Fedeverse
@Rick look for an Android app here https://joinfediverse.wiki/Apps and you should be fine. The scrolling is cause of the site specifically. The apps control it
What makes you genuinely smile?
Mine is seeing humans having respect for each other. I saw that tonight. It was nice....
Can Reddit Federate? Should It?
Hey all,...

Instance getting too centralized?
EDIT: Thank you all for your answers, now I'm reassured this platform is in good hands and we will always have the freedom to switch. Let's make this place vibrant, diverse and decentralized, like the old web used to be....
FYI sort by "Top Day" if you're tired of seeing the same top posts from 2-3 days ago
Not sure what's happening with the ranking algorithm, but it seems like the default main page is still displaying the same set of popular posts from a few days ago....
Is there a way to curate a front page?
I really want Lemmy to work but I'm having a difficult time tracking different communities across different instances. It feels like I'm doing something wrong. I typically just land on the lemmy.world front page and scroll through there, and I see some interesting stuff, but I'd like to learn how to curate it a bit more
Reddit is restoring deleted posts
I just logged in and checked my reddit account, and all my deleted posts have come back.
YSK not to post everything to the !lemmy.world community
Why YSK: to help keep the platform in order and help make the admins and mods' work easier....
It was confusing at first (lemmy.world)
Are some instances/communities closed off from others?
Still trying to get my bearings here....
[Solved] Unable to reply to users from kbin.social

How the beehaw defederation affects us
ou might have seen that we've been defederated from beehaw.org. I think there's some necessary context to understand what this means to the users on this instance....
Beehaw defederating effective immediately from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works (beehaw.org)

I just hopped on today and the site is very unusable right now
EDIT: it seems that this is a known bug and will be fixed in the next release! Thank you guys for letting me know...
I, former owner of 100k+ r/letsplay sub, have quit reddit (archive.is)
Archive link in case reddit admins attempt any funny business.
I signed up for lemmy.world because I don't want to write an essay. Shout out to the lazy people. (lemmy.world)
