@echo_pbreyer Even if Messenger users activate E2EE (and when it becomes default for all users), Meta will likely still be processing metadata about their private communications in a general and indiscriminate manner.

When does companies know enough about us?

My wildest example of forced data mining in 2023 was a Sony camera lens I bought.

I could get a discount, only if I accepted their registration of data about me. And anyone who refused would have to pay a whopping EUR 375 extra for the same product.

My country has a law which requires business to treat customers equally. I really wish that law applied to anyone who wants to protect their own privacy.

@Kjaerulv has this ever been tried in court?

@je5perl@eupolicy.social avatar

@randahl @Kjaerulv Withdraw your consent for the processing of personal data by Sony, a right you have under the GDPR. You keep the discount :)

@je5perl@eupolicy.social avatar

@osma @randahl @Kjaerulv Yes!! Single-use email addresses are a great idea for a number of reasons: verifying GDPR compliance, protecting against online targeting on e.g. social media (custom audiences) and companies selling your personal data to data brokers, as well as determining the source of the almost inevitable data breach (plus protecting yourself against data breaches by cancelling the email address). List is not exhaustive :)

Noget kunne se ud til at alle brugere af i 2024 skal til at have GPS tændt på deres mobiltelefon for at kunne rejse. Mulighed for ? Batteri forbrug?

@je5perl@eupolicy.social avatar

@tbhdk Appen bruger 5% batteri per time (meget mere hvis du bruger andre apps samtidig - så læs en papirbog i toget/bussen) https://support.fairtiq.com/hc/en-us/articles/207796529-Data-and-battery-usage Batterioptimering skal deaktiveres https://support.fairtiq.com/hc/en-us/articles/13790853734034-Android-Solve-location-issues (ellers risikerer du at blive checket ud automatisk). Dertil kommer ret aggresive tilladelser (GPS lokation, fysisk aktivitet, etc) https://support.fairtiq.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014665620-Permission-settings-and-confidentiality-on-Android

Du kan undvære det fysiske rejsekort, men husk en powerbank så du ikke løber tør for batteri.

Enjoy! Det bliver ikke på min telefon..

@maxim This article describes the contents of the position paper https://www.euractiv.com/section/law-enforcement/news/germany-suggests-splitting-up-child-sexual-abuse-material-regulation/ Essentially: delete Articles 7-11 and extend the interim ePrivacy derogation.

The coronation of King Charles takes place next Saturday.

After this date, banknotes showing the queen will no longer be valid.

You're probably hearing this for the first time and panicking a bit, but don't worry.

Just post your old notes to me, along with a stamped, self-addressed, envelope, and I will exchange them for you.

je5perl,
@je5perl@eupolicy.social avatar

@neil You could have fooled me on this one..🤣 I was surprised to learn a couple of years ago (with a minor unforeseen asset write-off) that UK banknotes can cease to be legal tender. When Denmark issues new banknotes, the old ones are withdrawn through the banking system (when deposited by retail stores), but they continue to be valid for payment.

je5perl,
@je5perl@eupolicy.social avatar

@xand @neil I know but this requires a physical visit to the BoE office (and risk of personal data processing if they ask questions about the source of my cash holdings or demand ID)
