Back in the day gay bars were open to queers of all genders. They were hangouts for primarily men, true, but women were always welcome.
That was why I didn't understand at first why we needed the LGBTQ+ label. You were either straight or queer. Queer covered every non-straight person.

I now belong to 9 Discord tech-oriented groups, yet I still don't really understand the venue or how it's supposed to work. I feel overwhelmed every time I log in.
Today I checked out @AllThingsTech. I was there for maybe 30-40 minutes. That's long for me.
I tend not to have long conversations with anyone not one of my very closest friends, and there are none of those these days.

It's truly weird to erase that much of the past.
Would anyone would join a social network that deleted all posts at midnight local time? No copying, no posting elsewhere. You would write something knowing that in less than 24 hours it would be gone.
I'm pleased to see that Mastodon is a place where you can express your opinion without getting a rash of insults or threats.
