Why do people throw out old motors, bicycles, anything metal into rivers and lakes instead of a junk yard or the trash system?

I have been watching magnet fishing and people love to toss stuff over bridges without a second thought on the environmental impact. Hiding evidence I can almost understand but not lawnmowers, car batteries, etc....

Because big thing from high in water make big splashy-splashy.

(This is not me condoning tossing shit in lakes/rivers!)

I’ve never been to a gun show that did not require a NICS check before a firearm purchase.

No. You have to go through a NICS check.

All your OBD2 monitors should pass if everything is working on your car. Usually a couple of drive cycles will do it. The car needs to go cold to operating temp a couple times. Mixed driving will do fine.

Aurora Borealis last week [OC] (lemmy.world)

These guys danced accross the sky, reaching quite far into the southern sky as well. Picture taken on 4.4… I’m just mad that while I had hauled my tripod with me, I had left the camera mount back home :))). I stuck a bench into the snow and steadied my hand against that. A couple of these turned out surprisingly well.

You were making steamed hams again, weren’t you?!

Checking the car for ticks. He’s doing you a favor!

Only a single shot there…wth that tape over the slide, it won’t cycle properly. Consider zip ties on the grip.

Wow, my disc-man was really close to this model. Mine was anodized blue. I remember getting my first paycheck as a bagger at Safeway for a summer job. I bought almost this Sony DiscMan, Eifel 65 and Korn Issues.

Plus 1 on the Aptera! Electric is the future of personal transport, but not in the way it’s being implemented. Changing our current ICE cars to electric isn’t enough. They are too heavy. The massive batteries require special dedicated charging to charge in a reasonable amount of time. The Aptera is light and doesn’t need a huge battery, and doesn’t need massive charging current to charge in a reasonable amount of time.

Biggest piece of advice I could give is to STAY OFF THE TOOL TRUCKS!!! Snap-On, Matco, MAC, ect… The tools from those trucks really are high quality but the amount you pay is a shit load more than what you would pay for tools at Napa, Lowes, Home Depot. Those tool trucks always get the new guys by saying, “it’s only $150 a week.” It’s also pretty hard to ask to defer paying when the tool guy comes to you every week.

When I started buying tools, I went a bit crazy racking up a debt and paying it off was a nightmare for my first few years. You really don’t need the $7000 Snap-On toolbox, no matter how cool it looks. Look for used boxes and tools. Pay up front for as much as you can. Buy Husky/Kobalt/Craftsman/ect…

This reminds me of another thing I see truck owners doing all the time. Using a trailer hitch bike rack. I see this all the time, two bikes on the rack with a completely empty bed.

That’s why they call them the Canadian Cobra Chicken.

How our drinking water could come from thin air (www.bbc.com)

Southern Nevada is in the grip of one of the worst droughts it has experienced in recorded history, leading to water shortages and restrictions on use. So, in water-stressed areas such as this, the prospect of wringing water from thin air is an appealing prospect. And it is exactly what Cody Friesen is trying to do....

This scam again? It’s the same as the self filling water bottle from Kickstarter.

The vast majority of what blinds me on my drives are completely factory headlights. There are still those with aftermarket bulbs, but I get blinded by stock Dodge Rams and Toyota Highlanders all the time.

This is almost the cat in my profile picture.

Probably went with 5.7 for availability. I’ve actually never seen 4.6 in 15 years of browsing gun shops. I believe the ballistic performance is similar between the two.
