Earlier this week, I noted that Iād be sharing more longer form thoughts on my #minimalism lifestyle. Today I want to share how important my mornings are to that lifestyle. I take very intentional actions to prepare my day. These actions effectively set up the framework of how and where I spend my waking time.
@dyami Right, a dynamic, fast-paced environment probably isnāt the best for my approach. š¤£ Maybe suggest brief morning touch-base meetings to set (or reset) the short- and long-term priorities?
Even when I was in corporate IT, I tried to block of time to focus on specific things, so I think thereās still merit in that. But you do have to be more flexible in that type of workspace.
Spammers need to up their game.* This looks like an effort from 2009. š

*Iām being facetious: spammers should be sent to a desert island for one year with some food, water and no internet access. Then we could drop āHelp coming soonā messages in a bottle every so often just to screw with them.
@amorosoTotally agree. TBH, I (almost) never see these due to the good filtering by Proton Mail. I just donāt like spam piling up for 30 days before it automatically deletes. Happened to see this before clicking the button to empty spam.
Itās not about the number of things, although I find benefits from having fewer rather than more clothes. One load of wash every weekend and Iām done, for example.
Instead of focusing on the numbers, focus on what items serve a purpose and consider letting go of those that donāt. #LessIsMore
š post -- Revenue retrospect: 5 years of indie blogging
As a full-time #indie#blogger, 2023 was a wake-up call. To explain, I'm sharing my site revenues over the past 5 full calendar years, along with the outside factors that made the most impact.
They tell a sad story but: I am grateful that I've been able to write for a living as long as I have.
@ferrix Thanks. Itās just reality and my philosophy is: āit is what it isā so while Iām saddened today, tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities. Cheers!
@jag Thanks for the kinds words, John. Apparently, youāve been along for the whole ride of my blogging journey and that means so much to me. āš¼ Cheers!
@mshockley Thanks! I suspect most of the successful content creators donāt want people seeing big numbers. Since I donāt have those kinds of numbers, it was easier to share. š¤£ Cheers!
The FIDO specification defines a form of Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) when users log in to a system. Rather than relying on one-time codes sent via SMS, or displayed on a phone screen, these are physical hardware tokens which are used to supplement passwords. When used with websites, this technology is also known as WebAuthn.
š post -- My minimal phone... isn't exactly a phone
As a #minimalist for the past five years, I sought out a minimal phone. These typically just provide the basics, such as voice calls, messages, a clock and contacts. The idea of these devices is to rid or greatly reduce all of the "noisy" apps found on modern smartphones, providing for less distractions.
Eventually, I found the solution for me, but my minimal phone isn't a phone. Not exactly, anyway.
@ibmacin Great read, thanks for sharing! Yeah, Iāve been using this setup for roughly 2 years now. It works for me but of course may not work for everyone else. I thought it was worth writing up because an LTE watch is often overlooked when folks look for a minimal phone.
I do have a small Canon P&S that takes decent photos. I used to carry that but I find it easier for transferring images to have them on a phone.
