Nifty #OpenSource / crowd-sourced approach called Fabric to reduce friction thanks to improved #AI prompts. While it works with cloud-based #AI systems like #ChatGPT, you can also use local models / apps, like I do with #Ollama. Definitely going to spend some time with this in the coming days.
“•To be free, you need a republic.
•To have a republic, you need a constitution.
•To have a constitution, you need morality (virtue).
•To have morality (virtue), you need religion.”
I am not religious but I am spiritual. And I try to do good wherever I can to whomever I can help.
I’m having way too much #RetroGaming fun with this Miyoo Mini+. Installed #OnionOS this morning which adds so many useful features. Nice theme switcher where I found a fave, which you can see in the video.
Also got hooked up with RetroAchievements, a website that creates and tracks achievements in these old #videogames. This was $70 well spent and I’m just getting started! (Literally… with the original Legend of Zelda)
@kevinctofel Love my Miyoo Mini... I also set up retroachievements on my PS1 Classic running AutoBleem... and man... some of these Achievements are hard!
“If you took a worker from a 1920s construction site and transported them to a present day project, they would not be that surprised by what they saw…”
Having grown up as #VideoGames became a “thing”, I splurged on one of the many #retrogaming handhelds for me and my son. He’s an avid gamer of the #GameBoy generation.
Impressed by this little device, the Miyoo Mini+, which can be had for $60 to $80. Emulators for a bunch of handhelds and consoles. There are more powerful / larger options and plenty of software mods you can do.
Now my son wants us to start a YT channel and “review” old games as if they just launched. 🙄
“Bundles are back! Well, not really. It’s tempting to argue that streaming bundles are the same as cable bundles, especially when it’s a cable company that’s doing the bundling. However, likening Comcast’s new streaming bundle to the cable bundle just doesn’t make sense.”
Consider me not at all shocked that Humane is shopping itself.
TBH, I expected Rabbit to do this first because the company doesn’t offer a compelling hardware product but because the software / #AI approach is the real product and far more valuable. Well, if it worked better, that is. I figured Rabbit built a low-cost hardware box simply to showcase the actual product that it would/will later try to sell.
@jnv Honestly, I never thought (and still don’t think) Rabbit wants to be a long-term device maker. I think it outed a piece of concept hardware at a low price without subscription fees to show off the AI product(s) / potential demand in hopes of a huge buyout from big tech.
Would you pay a monthly fee for a smarter, #AI-enabled #Alexa from #Amazon?
I would not as I barely use Alexa these days at all even though as a former #IoT content creator, I have all of the “big tech” assistants in my home. Not because Alexa today is lackluster compared to other options IMO, but I’ve given enough (read: too much) of my personal data to Amazon already.
Interesting local / #private#AI#search in-progress project worth watching: Perplexica. Aims to be similar to #Perplexity but has a ways to go yet. Works with #Ollama, which is what I’m using on #Linux to test local AI.
I had been meaning to look at using #Ollama for local #AI & today I caught this excellent video how-to. Still not sold on the current hype of AI but it would be foolish to overlook its place in our future.
Honestly, this little project was the most fun I’ve had in a while: installing/using different AI models, using AI in the #terminal, then in a #browser, even creating a persona for the prompts. And it’s all running locally (no internet needed!), so it’s #private. 🤓
Fellow #MotoGuzzi#motorcycle owners will probably disown me (🤣) but I downsized and traded in my 2015 Guzzi. Opted for a smaller, lighter ride and huge boost in MPG with a 2024 #Triumph Speed 400.
Was considering a #RoyalEnfield Hunter 350 but for the extra $1,000, I think you get a lot more in the Speed 400. I will miss the unique, analog character of the Guzzi for sure, however.
@kevinctofel I am tossing up getting a Hunter 350 vs a Triumph speed 400 (as a first manual bike, I have a scooter) Their purchase price are so similar! In the end, I think I will opt for the Hunter 350 because I like it better despite the specs 😬 I also like the Motoguzzi 😅
@Fury I have ridden a Hunter 350 and it’s a fantastic little bike. I think you’ll love it! My main reason for the Speed 400 over the Hunter is the roads here in the U.S.
The Hunter is fine on nearly all of them save for the interstates and such. Speed limits are 70 there and if you do that speed, you’ll get run over. The Speed 400 gives me a little more power for those roads as needed on occasion. Cheers!
