Riding a bike burns about 50 Calories per mile. Burning a gallon of gas releases about 8,800 grams CO2e. By knowing how many grams of CO2 are emitted per Calorie of food, we can calculate the miles per gallon equivalent (in terms of GHG emissions) for biking depending on what you eat.
