Ooh, that's interesting. I was able to follow a Mastodon account via the #PixelFed app that was a private/locked account and I was able to view their follower only posts despite not having been approved by them. Seems like a bug @dansup.

It really is wild to me how many punches to the face by arbitrary censorship the vast majority of mainstream social media users will take, yet refuse to even TRY using something like Mastodon because "iT's ToO cOnFuSiNg" 🤪 it's really not, they're just so habituated to the abuse that they've completely normalized letting soulless capitalists decide what (pro nazi, pro anti vaxxer, etc etc) content they're allowed to post.

Chrissakes I don't know why I even bother. Constantly hearing "I don't have the time/energy to use anything but the mainstream platforms I'm already on" makes me want to punch my computer monitor, as if constantly navigating the hurdles of arbitrary censorship doesn't take a hell of a lot of time and energy already. 🙄

Finally remembered to order a Diva cup and will test it out with my next period, since I doubt it'll ship before this one ends. I'm thinking of making a video about my experiences with it. I mean obviously I can't show anything since as we all know, women's health is invariably "sexually explicit porn," but maybe I can at least talk about how hard it was to figure out how to insert, how badly it leaked (hopefully not at all but we'll see), how often I have to empty and clean it, etc. I'm so tired of wasting money and adding to landfills with disposable #menstruation pads and tampons, but I've tried several brands of so-called period underwear and they're all a b* to wash (how am I supposed to air dry in Portland, OR where it trains for half of every year?!) and barely hold half a tampon's worth of blood before leaking anyway, so idk I'd love for a diva cup to work but we'll see.

Would be great if menstrual hygiene products had evolved more in the past thousand years 🤪

I just ordered my own copy of this #tabletop game #TheIsleOfCats after playing it at a #boardGame night at our local gaming bar and really enjoying it. I tend to play a lot more video games than board games because the learning curve is so steep for so many and it's hard not to feel flustered or embarrassed trying to remember so many complicated rules, especially while playing with either someone else who is as clueless as you are, or someone who's an expert at that game and tired of having to re-explain the rules to you. But this game is a nice balance of "complicated enough to provide a fresh experience each time" and "not so complicated you'll get stressed out trying to learn all the rules." The artwork is also super cute, especially for a #cat lover like me!

Finally checked out Suspiria the other day... the visuals were indeed gorgeous but the directing and dialogue seemed very haphazard. I didn't expect this movie to be meaningful but ultimately wasn't entertained either🤷🏼‍♀️

All in all, it felt like watching paint dry ...and definitely like a shameless Brian DePalma ripoff, sans the symbolical significance or a stringent plot.

Mmm... time to rewatch Phantom of the Paradise to soothe myself?🥹

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this place is so much more comfy and nice and less creepy than Twitter was. It's hard to put my finger on just what it is. I think partially it's just that Twitter was SO huge

I think content warnings and being able to set privacy per post makes a huge difference too

I keep seeing this study float past and it seems to miss a rather obvious point: it may not be the ED medication but the sex/sexual intimacy itself that makes Alzheimer's less likely to happen. These studies tend to be done on prudish societies where it's hard to measure things like sexual frequency and enjoyment, so we have to fall back on pharmaceutical data :/

Had a bad case of the Sunday scaries yesterday evening, which made it hard to sleep. I can't stop thinking about a few work issues which are almost totally out of my control. Being given a "management" job and then having almost all ideas shot down is really demoralizing

Completely randomly in the last few days I've heard the word 'rhetoric' said out loud in two completely different places. Once in an audiobook, once on TV. I was convinced they were saying it wrong & tiny bit maybe they are, but mostly you do not pronounce it the way I thought!!! Tried to discuss it with Mr F & today was the first time he ever heard the word, so it wasn't a very fruitful discussion 😂

I'm starting to second-guess giving shoutouts to creators I like but haven't talked to, out of fear that they'll object to having their names mentioned in relation to a "topless equality activist" who is always getting banned as "sexually explicit nudity" for daring to post my nonsexual female nipples in a feeble effort to maybe highlight the insanity of gender-based censorship? I mean if I include it in the video and they object, I can't very well edit JUST that part out, I'd have to remove, re-edit and re-upload the entire thing, which of course means broken links and losing ALL the comments and views...ugh I better not -_-
