@murtaugh That’s how I use it, as the occasional Photoshop replacement and Designer to make SVGs. I think the price it totally worth it for occasional use. The first version got free updates for 5 or 6 years before a major new release was a paid update. Currently 30% off, €126 for three desktop and three iPad apps. Or ~€50 for one.

I’ve been generally very happy with them all; they integrate very nicely. Though I haven’t used Publisher much. And no variable fonts support.

The 12" G4 MacBook from 2004 was such a neat machine. DVD drive. Wifi and ethernet. You could add memory in a slot at the bottom. Swappable battery.

@pixelambacht @letterror No, different but even more awesome. Especially the 12 inch model. I had that one for a while, too, when I swapped it to my 15 inch G4 Aluminium one with Frank when he went to Type Media.

Engineering question

Denmark - when building the Storebæltsbroen - concluded you cannot easily put a railway on a suspension bridge (so tunnelled the railway instead)

The Øresundsbron is a cable stay bridge instead of suspension

And here comes a proposal for a suspension bridge at the Strait of Messina with a central span of 3.3km... how will they account for movement / flex when a train crosses? 🤔

@tml @partim @jon As much as I love the train-on-boat experience for its exoticness, I find it odd and time consuming. Why not let everyone get off one passenger train, hop on a fast very, then get on the next train 30 minutes later. They’d have to station some trains on the island and passengers have to pack up their luggage and snacks but that’s just like any other train change. Times for night trains aren’t so that it would disturb your sleep.

@partim @wrzlbrnft @Schleifleistenbruch No idea, I’m from Zonenrandgebiet West.
I think buying on board, additionally to digital tickets, is fantastic if it doesn’t cost any extra fees. Much better than maintaining countless machines, especially on not so busy routes. The regulars know how or have their passes, visitors don’t have to worry, don’t loose time at the station and get a more personal treatment. Good reason to still have staff on board.

I am 1000% aware this will sound like a sponsored post from my employer, but I promise it is not.

I’m designing with Helvetica in the first time in quite a long time and using Helvetica Now.

And dammit, it is a better digital version of Helvetica.

The optical sizes of display, text, and micro are genuinely well done and useful. I’m only sharing because I’m humbly going back on my cynical take from when it was released.

And there our train ferry is arriving. The quite new Iginia. Used her in 2022, too. We have had to wait here maybe 20 minutes longer than scheduled because she for some reason wasn’t here.

, was ist der Trick um mit DB Fahrkarte im Navigator durch die Ticket-Gates in den Niederlanden zu kommen? Airplane Mode ist es schon mal nicht :/ Startet immer nur mobile pay.

Selbst die Interrail App kriegt das inzwischen hin. Außer in GB aber da ist wenigstens überall reichlich Personal an den Gates
