I really don’t use the official #Mastodon iOS app so I hadn’t seen this change but I took a look and I was quite surprised 😯 by this. Mastodon, and the #Fediverse by design, are supposed to be decentralized. That’s what makes them so great.
But, on the official Mastodon app, the join mastodon.social button obviously gears ones, especially those new to Mastodon, to that instance. The “join other servers” button can easily be missed.
@davidslifka@fediversenews There has to be a better way to guide newcomers through that process. To ease the anxiety of picking a server. Like a tutorial of why that’s there, what’s the reason, etc. 3rd part apps have it.
@greenback@fediversenews@Gargron Yeah I remember that but there has to be a better way implemented other than this. Better way to ease the anxiety of newcomers to pick a server to better fit their needs, hobbies. Tutorial within the app that guides them through the process. 3rd party apps do this.
#MentalHealth is important for a person’s wellbeing. As one who suffers from a mental illness, having resources that keep track of those ups and downs, things that trigger good and bad feelings, and ways to calm down when things are bad, really make it all better.
I’ve been using an app called #Finch. I absolutely recommend it.
