position." If there's a frame showing that, it's not this one.

@caiocgo @singe @blogdiva @dfeldman I got one of these so-called AIs to write a timelime of mobile telephones. It didn't have the full history so when I told it about Carterphone it gave me the "My apologies" line, and I kept correcting it with progressively more ludicrous statements and never once called me out. At the end, I had it telling me about Alcibiades inventing the first mobile phone to help win the Peloponnesian War.

I got the mostly-salvaged-river-parts e-bike, aka E-xpand-o-bike, into enough shape this afternoon to take it on a ride around the block.

I still need to fabricate a mount for the battery and the controller and do all the cable routing, but it works!

And it looks peak mad scientist on meth right now, so I had to show a picture to the Fediverse.

I think a lot of terrible mistakes people make boil down to not admitting that there is no acceptable fail state.

It's "pretty easy" to replace the brake system on your car. (Done it >50x myself.)

But you need to be aware that you CAN NOT AFFORD TO SCREW IT UP.

Stats don't help you here, btw.

It may be "rare" to see a kid in the street, but, when you drive a car, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE FOR THE KID BEING THERE. FAILURE TO SEE THE CHILD CAN NOT BE AN OPTION.

@subjacentish This is precisely why I've never done brakes despite willing to take on arguably more complex car repairs (back in the day. As I've gotten older and wealthier I'm more willing to trade money for time!) If I screw up a water pump or a radiator, I can't go. If I screw up my brakes, I can't stop! I've always left brakes to professionals.

@mcc I've recorded washing machine spin cycles and the cooling plant for one of the largest universities in America and used them in tracks. I looked through your history and couldn't find the actual recording, but I am interested!
