Nothing is too niche for modders to remaster, not even a '90s Star Wars FPS expansion pack where you play as Luke Skywalker's weird non-canon wife rescuing my favorite Expanded Universe dork (www.pcgamer.com)

Luke Skywalker had a weird wife named Mara Jade who was a femme fatal ex-Sith assassin with a purple lightsaber. Chewbacca died at the age of 225 years old when Star Wars’ Aldi brand Borg dropped a moon on him. The Death Star plans were not stolen by a ragtag bunch of rebel soldiers that included beloved martial arts leading...

a dadish guy in a Henley who looks like he’s heading to the last farmer’s market of the season on a brisk Sunday in the fall

What a fantastic characterization of Kyle Katarn

limitedduck,

Adam is someone I can really identify with because he eats ass like me.

limitedduck,

Alpha and beta aren’t really the same though. Alpha is meant to be unstable and feature incomplete while beta is supposed to be simply missing polish. For Alpha reviews to have real value they need to provide that context. Otherwise, it’s just an exercise for the reviewer

limitedduck,

How? The agreement restricts public statements, not negative feedback as a whole.

limitedduck,

The Closed Alpha playtest isn’t an invitation to publicly review, it’s an invitation to playtest. They’re trying to gather data and feedback on an inherently feature-incomplete and unpolished game to help with development. There are going to be private channels for feedback and the playtest data itself is like feedback so public channels are redundant. Obviously Marvel is also just trying to dodge criticism, but that’s not a mutually exclusive reason.

limitedduck,

It’s probably unusual. I hope that’s what your friend meant. If something you do is unusual, it doesn’t automatically mean you need to stop doing it.

Removing "Season Unknown" with no episodes

I recently added some files to my Jellyfin instance, and some of them had their metadata scraped incorrectly. This was no big deal, they weren’t named very well. These files ended up being displayed in a “Season Unknown” season of the show. So I fixed the names, and the files’ metadata was corrected automatically....

limitedduck,

A kind of similar thing happened to me where I added a music album. It had some weird duplication issue where 2 album entries were created: one entry with all the proper metadata that did not correctly link to the files and one with no metadata besides song names that did link to the files. I had to remove all the files of the artist from my library so Jellyfin could completely remove the album entry. Then, when I added the artist back it read the album properly without duplication.

TLDR try removing the entire show and waiting for Jellyfin to wipe it from the library

limitedduck,

It’s for that reason I was actually looking forward to seeing it, I was curious about what Remedy could make.

limitedduck,

I believe Gaben said this specifically at some point

If you liked the despecialized editions, you might like 4K77, 4K80, and 4K83. A gift to purists.

CSIS had officer investigated after she reported a superior raped her (www.cbc.ca)

A CSIS officer’s allegation that she was raped repeatedly by a superior in agency vehicles set off a harassment inquiry, but also triggered an investigation into her that concluded the alleged attacks were a “misuse” of agency vehicles by the woman....

limitedduck,

Am I reading this right? Officer gets raped by mentor in service vehicle multiple times. They file a complaint and an investigation is launched. A second investigation is triggered that finds that the officer getting raped while in a service vehicle counts as her using the service vehicle to conduct a romantic relationship?

Well I guess she shouldn’t have gotten raped huh. At very least if she was going to get raped it shouldn’t have been in a service vehicle.

Madness.

limitedduck,

Remedy has earned my trust from years of bangers. I’ll happily hear them out. Besides:

Remedy also confirmed that Condor will be a “service-based fixed price” game rather than a free-to-play title.

If everyone can rave about how great and fair Helldivers 2 is with the same business model, then they can give Remedy a chance.

Is anyone else having trouble with DuckDNS today?

I selfhost some tools and use duckdns for names resolution but it does not seem to be working today. My ISP updated some things on there end last night and I updated my local unbound server so I’m not sure which if either of these is also playing a role but I cant seem to access duckdns. I have tried to connect to it on my...

limitedduck,

I believe the nameservers are what respond to domain resolution requests. Nameservers not responding could mean they are down. If there’s no backup and the domain is resolved using one of those servers, then that might explain it not working.

limitedduck,

Duckdns has been inconsistent for me as well for the past year. Have you considered alternatives?

limitedduck,

This will be of zero help to you if your registrar isn’t Porkbun, but I’ve recently stopped using DuckDNS in lieu of this.

Headsetcontrol: max safe polling rate?

I just got myself an Arctis Nova 7X and have been trying to get chat mix to work using HeadsetControl and Nova7ChatmixLinux. The latter uses the former to poll the Nova 7X for the current chat mix balance. The creator set the polling rate at 1/sec which is a little long, but I fear it may be for hardware safety reasons. I got...

limitedduck,

Is 545 still the latest? That release was so awful it made me completely drop Nvidia and pick up an AMD card. Fixed so many issues

limitedduck,

Like the other commenter I also had wildly flickering frames. Overwatch in particular was stuttering back to some previously buffered frame when the framerate was either below or above a sweet spot. I was also having issues with KDE Plasma bars that I assumed was a KDE issue, but they went away with the new GPU with no other software changes than swapping drivers. I was on a GTX 1080 which was still going strong with the games I played

limitedduck,

Wow, I’m glad I switched back in early December. What a nightmare it would be to still have those problems

limitedduck,

What was Bell’s reasoning in blaming the government?

limitedduck,

Once in a while I think of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and remember how much fun it was. It hasn’t aged well, but I hope a new Mandalorian game can capture the same kind of experience.
