I looked at a list of movies coming out this Summer to figure out what was going to get me to the theater, and as far as I could tell it was all sequels. I’m sure some of them will be good, but where’s the new stuff?

@agiletortoise Yeah it’s tough right now. For theaters especially it seems the big budget stuff is all on safe bets right now.

The Fall Guy is an original, well-received action comedy with a couple bankable stars and it’s not doing great, which can’t be helping 😔

@nathansnelgrove I just started using it, and it's totally great for short form demos like this! I've tried it on my YouTube videos and it's a bit harder there where I want more control and projects get bigger, but if you're demoing one interaction, it's easily my new fav.

Just pushed a small update to https://quickreviews.app that makes the iPad share images with the share sheet rather than downloading the file.

I think this is a better experience, and was what I intended before…I just forgot that iPads report themselves as Macs in their user agent string 🙈

Played RE: 4 and Village on the iPad Pro (M4 3 core) today.

RE:4 - Looks and plays absolutely terribly. Hair and flashlight beams are hilariously low-res. No adjustable settings for graphics, either.

Village - Very impressive performance with lots of levers for adjusting the experience to your liking. I’d play this game on this device (even though I have a PC with a 4070 that would run circles around it).

Both - My poor battery! Holy cow, I didn’t know iPads could get this (very evenly) hot!

@NateBarham Man, I tried RE4 as well and was similarly disappointed even if I should have expected it. “Oh, it’s still running at the same ultra-low settings and 30fps cap…”

I had it in my head they removed the settings from village in an update, but apparently I’m misremembering. Glad to hear it runs great!

And didn’t realize we were 4070 twins 😝 It’s such a good GPU, isn’t it?

@NateBarham Yeah that sounds about right. I tend to go for 4K with DLSS whenever possible, but sometimes (Alan Wake 2, mostly) do drop down to 1440 if needed.

My CPU is pretty solid, Core i& 13700K (I believe…it's a 13th gen something)

Ok I’ll admit it, I underestimated how valuable Apple Pencil hover was on the M2 iPad Pros. Now that I’ve got it on the M4 model, I never want to be without it.

Nice for hinting exactly where I’m about to tap.

Amazing for having a way to hover over things on the web when not using a mouse.

Quick ranking of the new iPad Pro set in terms of “ooh, this is notably better than the thing that came before”

  1. Magic Keyboard - markedly better…like really better

  2. iPad Pro - OLED is slick

  3. Pencil Pro - squeeze to bring up markup tools is cool, but basically the same otherwise so far
