I have to agree with @nickheer about Apple’s “100 Greatest Albums” thing—it’s merely a marketing exercise for Apple Music, which is perfectly okay. To use it as an example of how the company monolithically has lost its way, as Slate has, is laughable. It’s not that serious, people. Apple is just fine.

@steven_aquino @nickheer lol those linked articles are something else. I swear lists break people's brains. Literally how could any single list of the best albums of all time represent anything remotely "definitive"?

Lists are fun to make, they're fun to read, and they're best at reminding you of things you love or turning you onto things you've never heard/seen/etc. Evidence a tech company has lost its way? Nah 😂

@Abazigal What I will say is that the pushback is often like this: vague (why would adding cellular to Macs be something only an idiot would do?) and implies that Apple knows better than me.

Then Apple adds the thing (files app, windows management, and cursor support on iPads, home screen widgets, etc.) and everyone is like “wow, this is so great!”

@rowan_johnson @ravi Oh dang, yeah I thought it was still $100 for the upgrade, but it's def $200 now.

But yeah, it definitely adds some complexity they'd have to update macOS to support (namely not performing system updates on cellular unless asked, letting app devs check whether the user is on cellular so they can avoid big data things…what other big things am I missing?) but it all seems doable to me. Not that it's our job to make excuses for Apple, of course 😝

And that's 10 games beat in 2024! 🙌

Just beat Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, which I know gets a bad rap, but I enjoyed it as someone who hadn't played a Pokémon game since Red when it was new.

Super satisfying getting into the grind and building up my team around the world without it getting too complicated.

I will say the art style is very far from anything I'd consider my style. It feels cheap to me and the in-battle visual style is totally different and much better.

@bennusekabel Very fair question! I just wanted a "classic" Pokemon experience to ease me back into the series.

Also, I tried to play Violet when it was new and did not enjoy it unfortunately. I am eyeing one of the games you mentioned to play next, so I'm curious which you'd recommend first?

I'm not interested in this year.

I'm sure some features will be helpful, but after the last few keynotes, it's far too clinical and reactionary compared to the events I used to watch in the early-2000s.
