@wonka@radotter@SheDrivesMobility Eben.
The accusation Arab nations would be responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, or are “degenerate”, for not taking in Palestinian refugees, is self-defeated by the fact that accusation comes from the nation that is both the cause for those refugees' existence and does not want to provide shelter to them either.
Additionally, the same argument was used by Nazi Germany about Jewish refugees not being able to leave Germany as less European nations accepted them [Source: Anne Frank Museum].
People not being able to flee from your war is not an argument against those people, but an argument against your war.
@ErikUden Are there btw any positive news in the regard from germany? all I'm seeing so far is us proving we have learned nothing and will continue doing the wrong thing (till the point comes where we'll pretend to 'not have known better' and expect that everyone just accepts that and forgives us instantly)
@ErikUden I bet you five when the tonal shift comes germany's higherups and media are either going to pretend 'they didn't know' or act as if they've always done 'the right thing'. wanna bet? (also very irked how especially the us is trying to act as if it's the fault of one single shitweasel and not all their bombs and shit...)
@Tim_Eagon@scalzi When they come from people who had a genuine advanced copy/showing and they declare (I think they are obliged to) to give an honest review and the review IS honest it is a good thing: It can build genuine hype or allow authors/publishers/etc to fix things. Granted, the latter happens, it feels like, far too rarely. But the chance is there.
@Tim_Eagon Agreed. And, honestly, it shouldn't be hard for pages like GR oder storygraph to let people link netgalley accounts etc to know that, yeah, this person has an arc and can review, and bar everyone else till the book's published?
