Neuroscientists and electrophysiologists of Mastodon, what would your top choice analysis tool be for a novice getting started with working with ECoG data? I have a graduate student I will be co-mentoring starting this Fall who is very bright but has no programming experience, and I'd like to help her get up and running as quickly as possible. I've generally been a roll-my-own-analyses type of electrophysiologist so I don't have a favorite framework to get her started with. I know EEGLAB is popular, but my main experience with it has been helping other people get their Matlab path working properly again after something in EEGLAB clobbers it. I've played with MNE in Python but it doesn't seem to be as purely-GUI as EEGLAB and I don't want her to get bogged down in learning Python before she can do any analyses at all.
So, what's your favorite tool for ECoG analysis? What would you recommend a student who's starting from zero background in electrophysiology or programming begin to learn in 2024?

Important changes that I recently made are that:
(i) it plays nicely with latest versions of tidyverse packages and (ii) that one can open fif files from MNE (but this is quite experimental atm)

Das wurde übrigens von Rot-Grün gegen die Stimmen der Union beschlossen.
If you want to try deep learning and EEG, if you have lots of data, but supervised learning is difficult or ineffective for your target task, you might want to experiment with self-supervised learning as popularized for #transformers and vision models!
Techniques such as MoCo, SimCLR are already implemented, and eeg augmentations can be used and further customized. If you do not know how to come up with architectures, don't worry! A model zoo is there 👨🏾💻🧠

Die Bundesnetzagentur (@BNetzA) hat gestern das Volumen der nächsten Ausschreibung für die #Windenergie an Land drastisch reduziert. Statt der gesetzlich geplanten 3,2 GW werden nur 2,1 GW ausgeschrieben. Es ist die dritte Kürzung in Folge. Damit ist laut BWE dieses Jahr nur noch eine versteigerte Gesamtmenge von 6,5 GW möglich. Laut Gesetz (#EEG) sollten 2023 eigentlich rund 12,8 GW ausgeschrieben werden.
