One of the biggest complaints with reddit was the artificial up/down score that they changed your ability to see. Before, you would see and watch the up/down votes happen in near real-time, so it was easy to see if something was artificially pushed up or down. I would like us to at least keep up/down votes as an option.
Also great idea letting the user decide what they want. Kudos to the team.
So I checked out reddit after a long time and was going through the top of r/videogames subreddit and I could clearly see a pattern in most of the posts there. Posts were mostly like “what game ______ for you?” or “what game _____ like this?” Now I could be wrong but it doesn’t feel ‘organic’ (if that’s correct...
NP! I didnt know about it until recently too. It was eye opening on why im seeing so many “safe” posts make it to the top and why so many google search results now include reddit posts recently.
Nope, I have projects that used to pull top x on Google searches based on some seo work I did back in 2016-2017. It’s significantly more. Granted the dataset is super old by now and you would have to trust a random on the internet (aka me) in order to believe, but it hasn’t been always been reddit.

Looks like there has been some significant changes from 2022. But it’s arch based…and the expert install is the same. So I’m not sure what you mean. It’s just Linux.
Either way, I’m glad valve put so much effort into Debain/Arch + Proton. Amazing what they can do + the community behind wine.
I never stopped using irc (I know I’m old). There is matrix to irc connectors that are awesome. One of the benefits of open source is a lot of the protocols work well together.
RiF was so good. It’s how I interacted with reddit for a very long time. Now Jerboa but it’s still not quite there. Although it’s free and the devs are super awesome.
Besides Lemmy which I love a lot, I’m also enjoying a microblog platform called Catodon, which is much less basic than Mastodon and has a very nice interface. Pixelfed is also fantastic if you like photography rather than just being Instagram influencer nonsense. Where else are you hanging out? What have you liked and not...
Nice, im involved in a makerspace. Mobilizon looks just right up our alley. We are perceptually on discord and our website + google calendar is how we announce our meetups. This might help us out.
