What can I use 3x Raspberry Pi 3 for?
I thought about setting up room-assistant, but I don't really need that level of visibility for any automation that I have.

@Floppy Hmm I already have Plex/Owncloud/Matrix running on my K8S cluster. My Nature Watch looks interesting though! I might give that one a shot.

I basically just want to use the Pis. It's bothering me that they are just sitting there doing absolutely nothing 😂

Do you know when you have hung on to a mobile phone for too long? When you get a quote to sell it and the phone is worth $2 USD. Sleep well Pixel2. I'll find something for you to do in the #homelab.

@dthacker9 I would love to use my stash of old phones to do something productive in my homelab.

I was trying to get #K3S deployed on a few old phones using #postmarketos but I gave up in the end. 😅

I got to have a conversation today about CFS and cgroups2 with someone at work this morning, so that's fun. It's one of those "magical" things about the kernel that is interesting and also not a good thing to try to outsmart.

mhamzahkhan,
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

@vwbusguy Do you have any suggested reading?

I have spent a little bit of time (albeit not nearly enough time) to try and do some reading into it, but I don't think I really fully understand it. 😅

Looking for recommendations for a Zigbee temperature sensor that is safe to put in a fridge?
I'm not sure if that even exists? Batteries aren't supposed to get that cold?

@cnx what kind of batteries do your generic thermometers use? CR2032?

Tadhg Hickey explains the situation in Palestine as clearly as it gets. The simple truth with simple words.

Israelis are not the problem. But their government is.

By the way, I’m an Ashkenazi Jew; so don’t come at me with your anti-semitism rhetoric.

@markwyner that's Tadhg Hickey, not Lowkey. But regardless, it's a very good video.

I decided to quit caffeine altogether about 4 days ago, as I was drinking upwards of 500-1000mg a day.

Luckily the headaches aren't that bad, the holy hell.. the brain fog is serious.

The instant sleep improvements are so worth it, though.

mhamzahkhan,
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

@jorijn My brain fog has finally started to clear. 😂

Sleep benefits are amazing. I wake up not feeling tired, and in need of a coffee.

mhamzahkhan,
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

@jorijn Well my last coffee was 3 weeks ago.... and the brain fog only started feeling better a couple of days ago.... so maybe 2.5 weeks or so haha

mhamzahkhan, to random
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

I don't get it. I'm a true caffeine addict. I usually have multiple coffees in a day, or sometimes energy drinks.

I haven't had any caffeine since Monday. I was expecting the usual extreme headaches that come every time I do the caffeine reset.... but I haven't had any headaches at all.

Just extreme sleepiness. Not that I'm complaining. I don't want the headaches. But it's weird. Usually I would get a headache the same day if I missed my morning coffee.

mhamzahkhan,
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

@jorijn coffee does taste too good. i'm craving it quite badly, haha. 😭

I try to do a caffeine reset regularly when I feel like I've become less sensitive to caffeine. Last week, I had two energy drinks in the same day but still felt sleepy. 🤣

But this time, it's mainly because the month of ramadan will be starting in two weeks, and I will be fasting. There isn't any suitable time to be drinking coffee/caffeine, so I try to cut it beforehand because it's easier to do while not fasting.

The paper shredder is my favorite office machine, followed by a label maker.

mhamzahkhan,
@mhamzahkhan@intahnet.co.uk avatar

@seungjin I love the diamond cutting shredders.

Yeaaaaars ago, in my first job when I was 19 year old help desk kid, my manager gave me a bunch of CDs to put through the shredder as my first task on the job. I don't know why he wanted me to shred them, they were just MS Office and Windows installation media. Not even with a license key or anything.

It was fun shredding them anyway.

I'm not sure if it was just me but the CGI cut-scenes in : Crisis Core - Remake looked terrible and pixelated.

Nonetheless I've finished up the game and looking forward to playing another game!

of Mastodon, do you use any app for tracking your todo list and chores? If so, which one?

I'm looking for something that is easy for the kids to understand as well.

@ilyess Haha nope. I couldn't get wife on board with using it. It's a bit pointless if only one of us is using it, so I dropped it for now. :(

Gonna be honest. I enjoy just watching the robot vacuum do it's thing.

It's the watching fish swim around a fish bowl kind of satisfaction.

Does anyone have experience running their Home Lab in a high humidity environment?

I want to move my home lab to my conservatory, but I'm worried because the humidity and temperature is quite variable. Humidity goes between 50%-80%, and lowest temperature I have seen so far has been 4°C. I'm a little worried about condensation.

@funkypenguin If I remember correctly, you had your homelab in your garage? That must have high humidity when it rains outside?

mhamzahkhan,

@ilyess Annoying thing is, have to jump through hoops to get the app for my Samsung TV working (developer mode, get the tizen sdk working).

The Tizen SDK doesn't seem to work very well on my Mac :/
