While Danielle Smith distracts you by slamming the carbon tax...

...she is raising your taxes by reinstating the 13 cent fuel tax...

...and taking away the tax cut she promised you.

@ned I'm actually all for the carbon tax and the fuel tax incentivizing people to reduce their carbon emissions--I'm pointing out the premier's hypocrisy.

micropainter,

@ned Well, don’t tell Danielle that her 13 cent fuel tax may actually help fight climate change!

Naheed Nenshi is growing the big tent—he’s serious, and so is Rakhi Pancholi—about including ALL Albertans.

Because the TBA-controlled UCP is only catering to a tiny, wealthy, fossil fuel owner, Christian, white, bigoted minority against the interests of the vast majority of Albertans.

At the Juno Awards in Halifax on Sunday night, Calgary-raised pop duo Tegan and Sara received a standing ovation after speaking out against policies Alberta’s government is proposing that would affect transgender youth.

When Nenshi was first elected, he said he was the Mayor for ALL Calgarians, including those didn’t vote for him.

Smith is only premier for a tiny group of TBA ideological extremists.

She only has 12 out of 46 seats in Calgary & Edmonton.

For those who are just tuning in, Harper hasn't been Prime Minister for nearly a decade, and does not represent Canada or Canadian interests in any official way whatsoever.

Harper flew to Israel to support Netanyehu and meet with his Minister of Foreign Affairs. Why?

Battle of Alberta 2024:
The UCP and the fossil fuel companies versus farmers, ranchers, growers, and the rest of us.

Watch the UCP impose water restrictions on us but not them.

@50sFarmGirl "In 2020, just four companies in the oilsands took 200 billion litres of fresh water from the Athabasca River to lubricate eight water-intensive bitumen projects.

That’s more than what the city of Calgary withdraws from the Bow and Elbow rivers to slake its needs for a year."

Trudeau and his Minister of Housing just announced $176 million in housing deals for more than 60 small towns and rural communities.

Meanwhile Pierre Pollievre is attacking reporters for asking questions, and Danielle Smith is attacking trans kids for existing.

Is the UCP going to rubber stamp Smith / Parker's anti-trans, anti-sex-ed, anti-LGBTQ, anti-choice policies?

"Ninety years ago this summer, in August 1934, Adolf Hitler mandated that all German government officials pledge their loyalty to him instead of to the country’s constitution.

Legislative bodies under dictators are often ceremonial, giving the appearance of a check on authority when in reality they are a rubber stamp for the dictator’s edicts." --Dan Rather

We are about to lose what we hold dear in this place, Alberta.
Unless you stand up and speak out, we are on the cusp of losing trans and LGBTQ rights, women’s reproductive rights, minority rights, water rights, forests, watersheds—and trust in data, science, medicine, public education, public healthcare, public service, trusted news sources.

Talk to your friends and family. Write and call your representatives. Go to rallies, organize, protest.

MAGA politics run this province now. It’s real.

micropainter,
@micropainter@mstdn.ca avatar

@ned First we have to vote out the TBA-controlled UCP extremists. Particularly if those elements control municipal councils or school boards, and certainly at the provincial level.

micropainter,
@micropainter@mstdn.ca avatar

@ned This means not just voting, it means volunteering, donating, protesting, organizing, writing emails (cc NDP), phoning, showing up.
