My iOS 17 Wishlist:

  1. Official support for sideloading.
  2. A clipboard history API that saves the most recent 10-20 items at the system level and individual apps can request access to.
  3. Remote access so that I can more easily assist family members with iPad/iPhone trouble.
  4. A system-level option for setting custom icons for apps.
  5. The ability to add shortcuts to Control Center.

@Aaron there’s currently no way to control their screen, though, right? It’s just viewing?

Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.

@gruber as long as the protocols are open and federation (or whatever Bluesky calls it) is supported, it doesn’t matter which one “wins”. Someone will build a bridge between the two and people can use whichever they prefer.

My current experience of using Twitter

@chrishannah I haven’t looked at my Twitter timeline in quite a while at this point, but the same-ness of all the posts was one of the reasons I moved over here. Everyone had the exact same opinion about everything and it was just boring.

(I also really appreciated the <em> tags you put around “expertise”.)

I think it may be time to replace my HomePods. Since I’ve started using Spotify, I don’t think I’ve used my HomePod for music at all, and also, Siri is by far the worst voice assistant out there.

I guess the ideal solution for me is an Alexa device that has a good quality speaker.

@chrishannah I only use my HomePods for AirPlay, mostly from Pocket Casts and Prism (a Plex music app).

I’ve also disabled “Hey Siri” on them because I never use it. It was only ever triggered accidentally.

@chrishannah I think starting timers is the only thing I use the Siri feature for, haha
