I’d be tempted to alt-future it and engineer better versions. Optical-mouse-style CMOS cameras for CD-ROMs so they don’t need lasers or precise tracking. Parallel processors as video cards for 8-bit microcomputers. Basically, rip off the PS1, but with const-z texturing for less wobble.
