i'm currently trying to assess if it is worth keeping our birdsite presence (i'd rather not tbh). so i'm also asking here: did you buy an MNT product in the last 6 months, and was it because you were informed or reminded of it here?

is it normal for vddgfx of amdgpu to fluctuate and drop to 731mV?

MNT Rack Reform rough prototyping. the unpopulated volume can be used for a GPU or disks and/or UPS batteries and/or fan.

what would you recommend for selfhosted music (and maybe other media) streaming server? jellyfin? funkwhale?

i'm glad to be able to say that we are once again working with NLnet. this time they are funding the development of a future MNT Reform version (codenamed MNT Reform Next) that is thinner and powered by a next-gen processor such as RK3588. please note that we are still early in the process and want to solicitate feedback and collaboration from other makers so that it is easy to contribute and reuse modules across projects.

little productivity thing for linux that i would like: terminal integration of the XDG (?) "Recent" folder. make it an actual Folder ~/Recent with links to the files, or a FUSE fs. i often have to integrate console and desktop tools and this would make it less painful.

i have a bizarre yield issue with some of our custom produced LS1028A SOMs, maybe 30% are like that. the processor will not start up correctly: it does not try to talk to SD card (no clock), and its H_RESET output does not go high. resetting it with PORESET doesn't help. but turning it off and on again eventually makes it boot, and it's then stable even through many PORESETs. it is not predictable (so far) when/what makes it boot, so far it looks random. who can i pay to debug this?

looking for some new TV show recs. what i recently enjoyed: Silo, Elementary, X-Files, ST: SNW, Expanse rewatch (still ongoing), Picard. A bit further ago: Better Call Saul, Killing Eve, ST: Disco, DS9. was thinking about succession, but superficially the cast doesn't look very diverse

today i will attempt to upgrade this 8GB LS1028A module to 16GB by hand. wish me luck

now i want to make an mPCIe framebuffer card (to hdmi or mipi), but the missing piece of knowledge is how to implement a pcie device in fpga (optimally with the open toolchain)

i need an actor/doppelganger who speaks at conferences for me, it's too taxing for my mental health to travel and do that kind of stuff

looking for a minimalist webapp that lets me edit markdown files in a directory structure (on disk) that has a split view with directory tree on the left side, and where i can also create directories and move the files around if necessary. does it exist?

i think the EU should pass legislation that enforces standards based 2factor auth (like totp/hotp) for banks, health insurance etc. it is absolutely unacceptable that people are forced to buy android/ios smartphones to use critical services

did you ever encounter some RP2040 GPIOs just not... working? i.e. you tell it to output a logic high level, but the actual pin is close to GND? we have some pocket keyboards that are like that. there is no short on the board. so i'm wondering how this can happen. damage during soldering, handling?

fit of production RCM4 PCBs is very good. we're gonna assemble the first batch inhouse now. we also have BPI CM4s stocked to go with them. (A311D processor upgrades for MNT Reform laptop)

CNC manufacturer (hubs) messed up and after delays, sent us a load of unusable aluminum parts for the standalone keyboards. we have to go through everything now and document and try to get the money back, and remanufacture them in another place in parallel

tracked down another issue with BPI/RCM4. i was wondering why the ethernet was working only at 100mbit/s and not reliably. turns out it had to do with the connection/polarity of the LEDs. the bpi-cm4 expects LED1 to be active high, but on the Reform motherboard, it's wired as active low. and: the LED pins also double as config straps for the RTL8211F PHY on the bpi-cm4. so one or two config bits must have been unexpected. cutting the traces on RCM4 made 1gpbs work for the first time.
